I'm looking for flights out of Hartford for Aug 19th returning on 8-27-06 with Delta since I have a very large credit with them due to being in-voluntarily bumped in February. Right now seats are at $367.10 round trip :confused3 for direct flights however on the outbound flight there are still 108 seats open and on the way home there are 93 seats open. Does anyone feel that Delta will eventually reduce the prices on these?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

The way airfare fluctuates it is really hard to say. One thing for sure is that the rising fuel prices will tend to increase fares or at least hold them higher than in the past.

That seems pretty high for BDL-MCO to me. I would wait and see if the prices drop. I like to stay closer to $200 Round Trip (or less).

You'd think Delta would reduce the fares since there are a lot of empty seats but they might just cancel the flight and combine it.

Many people think Delta is going to be reducing the number of seats/flights that only sell at deeply discounted fares, such as flights from the NE to FL.

I'd keep on eye on SW flights, if they're able to keep the fares higher Delta will no reason to lower their fares.

Might it pay to use the credit for one way travel and look at another airline for the other direction?

If you have a large credit (and its not really out of your pocket anyway), does it really matter about a few dollars? Not flaming - just food for thought...

Well Logan's Dad is does matter to a point, as I have one large credit that must be used at the airport. I have to get to the airport within 24 hours of booking, and a smaller credit of $100.00 that I can use on line, and since the closest airport is over 1 hour away each way and I can't get to the airport within 24 hours of booking since I work I just want to use the small credit now and use the big one for our trip to San Juan in February which I will book 24 hours prior to our August flight and pay using the voucher while I am at the airport.

I wouldn't count on them going down. I booked Delta for September earlier this year. So far I've been switched to a smaller plane (same departure time), and when I went to see if I could switch to an earlier flight, I noticed the fares have already gone up $120 round trip for the same flight I'm already booked on. I agree that if the seats don't sell, Delta will either use a smaller jet or combine flights.

I feel your pain. :furious: I have been researching airfare everyday. My friends wanted to join us in Disney in November and the airfare was out of sight. It went from $177 to 1,027 - stayed there for about 2 months- then last week it went down to $477 and then Monday it went down to $277. I checked today and its $288. :confused3

My sister couldn't get a good flight to florida from Boston/hartford until 3 weeks before she left. Then she had to fly Easter Sunday. I think she paid $243 Rt to Fort Lauderdale. Then my mother asked me today to book her flight home - May 2 or 3 rd -= OMG one way is $309 and thats on a wednesday -which is usually much cheaper. She just paid $169 rt in march-- She did say that her plane was half empty and I did notice that number of flights have declined. They only have 2 non-stop flights one at 7:25 am and the other at 11:30. They usually have a 12:30 and 3;00 and 6:00.

But even the flights that weren't non-stop were high.

Then I'm trying to get my airfare for Feb 07 (have my hotel all booked) but It $600 rt x 4 = ouch.

Just keep trying. I have heard people getting a great rate at 1 in the morning. I know my brother got great airfare at 3;00 am last year. But I was online at the 11 month window trying to get great airfare and I should have stayed in bed. I was so depressed because it was $400 rt at 11 months out at 1;00 am. Then I couldn't sleep cause I was so depressed. But I altered my dates and got it for $177 rt (had to give up 4 extra days in florida) but that was back in January.

GOOD LUCK!! Your not alone!!!

Have you considered flying out of Providence? Southwest flies out of Providence and you probably could get much better airfare pricing.

My mom is a TA and she said that when an airline settles a deal after being in turmoil the prices usually drop for the airline and the others follow. Now with the fuel prices on the rise I think it will be a bit. I paid 108 in Dec when NW was having their "problems".

I know that fuel prices are on the rise but I read on one of these Disney web-sites that for transportation the cheapest times to book are six months out and then again about 2 months out from your flight date.

The combined breaths of the airline industry are currently being held until the Delta deal is done. I agree with your Mom Kitty :) Once the Delta contract is done things should get back to somewhat normal pricing...with a bit of an increase thanks to fuel costs.
