I'm soooo confused as to what to do. I have an existing reservation at POR riverside for Dec.11-15. That is going to cost me 745.00. Now I start looking at Mousesavers, love that site, and I'm seeing that I could stay at the Doubletree with breakfast for 490.00 OR I could stay at the Hilton with my AAA advance purchase rate of 477.00. Good Grief!! That's 300.00$$$ savings!

My concern is that it will only be my daughter and my self and she has Down Syndrome. High functioning, but DS nonetheless. How is the transportation at these two? It seems like we could just go to DTD and catch the bus from there if the hotel shuttles are irratic.

What would ya'll do. I've never stayed off site, but with these savings at this time of year, it seems worth it.

HELP!!:)

If you don't have a rental car then I would stay onsite. Buses do not run from Downtown Disney to the parks--only to the resorts. yes, you can catch a bus to a resort and then another bus or other transport to a park but that will eat up a lot of time. Also check the schedules of the offsite hotels--many only run at very limited times and some have a cost associated with them. Some are more like school buses (no ac) than coach buses.

Did you use a code for the POR room? Maybe you can switch to a value and save some $$$?

I had considered a rental car using a code that I found. At that time all of the resorts are COMPLETELY full. Something else to consider in my opinion. Even with a rental the cost will be less than staying on site.

I had thought of getting a rental if we were at POR because of how full the resort was going to be.

I think the Hilton looks really nice and you would still get to use EMH but pay a cheaper price than onsite!

Not in the DTD area but not too far away, I found the Fairfield Marriott Village for your dates for $270.84 including tax. I'm pretty sure they have a park shuttle and they do include a continental breakfast. That would be a huge savings. Never stayed there or booked it so I don't have 1st hand info but I've heard good things about it.

I would definately pick the Doubletree 100%. IT will be so nice to have the extra room. It is a really nice place in a really nice location. I have stayed here a few years back and would do so again in a moment.

I have also Stayed at the Hilton and do not think it is worth giving up the free breakfast to save the few dollars.

okay, I chose the Hilton because we really don't need alot of room for the two of us. I looks like it's a beautiful hotel and it's got a walkway to DTD. I also saved 252.00!! That's the best part of it all. I feel good about my decision.

Thanks for all those who responded:goodvibes

Wanted to share this PRONTO!

I booked 3 bedroom Unit at Regal Oaks, in Old Town for 59.00 plus tax, there is a 1 time cleaning fee of 66.00. I was in the industry for years, this is a new property and they are still working on it, so you'd have to use the pool at another sister property they own (in Davenport)as they are still building the pool, but I am getting this 3 bedroom for family and it's all new and the area used to be dirty, etc but they are cleaning everything up, this rate is good until 12/08 (not sure the exp date).

I am not sure about transportation.

PS we stayed on Disney Property for years, but it's been like 24 years now and we actually have a place there and my son is attending college outside Orlando, don't worry about staying off site. It's cheaper, and you get more for your money!
Good luck and most of all enjoy your vacations!!!:cool1: :lmao: :goodvibes :yay: :dance3:

With the economy and traveling this is a BEST BUY!

Davenport is a long ways away. You're going to be spending a lot of time on the road if you're going to the pool. I'd give it a miss no matter how great the price is!

We've stayed in Davenport for 1 of our vacations. We had a private pool, but we didn't think the trip between the rental home and Disney was bad at all.

Once again, the price was much lower out there. We got a nicer home than when we stayed in Emerald Island- both off-season, w/ a savings of nearly $600.00 for the week.

Anyhow, I think you got a great savings and I'm positive you'll be happy w/ your choice.

I think Linda was referring to the distance between Regal Oaks (Old Town) and Regal Palms (Davenport) to just use the pool.

I too do not think that is feasible to travel that distance to just go to the pool and would love to stay there when it is finished or nearly finished. Looks like a building site at the moment.

There is a Lynx bus that goes from Old Town to Disney so you can get that if you do not have a car.
