DF and I had planned on having a dessert party as our reception the night of our wedding. We had picked out the menu and worked with our EM to make is absolutely amazing....

Now, we have found out that each pavilion is booked for the ENTIRE week of our wedding! :eek: So, now I need something creative, something different for our guests. I really didn't want a regular PS arrangement. I want somthing that will make our guests say "WOW". Most of our guests are fellow teachers, so they don't get to The World as much as they would like. So, I want them to remember this trip as something a little extra special.

Oh, and I thought about a Wishes Cruise, but there will be 16 adults, so our party is too large for that.

Any ideas? Thanks so much!!! :wave:

Hi:

Just an idea, I'm having a dessert party at the Grand Floridian Marina at 7:00 p.m. (way after my wedding). The area is really nice and you have a great view of the Castle and the wishes fireworks.

I hope this helps pixiedust:

I took some pics of the Marina, if you want to see them, just PM me (I have to get the pics of my work computer :confused3 )

wish i could help. The GF marina....what about other countries that are not usually advertised...Morocco or Japan?
Why did you not have a place reserved already??

Good Luck

It was recently reported that the Grand Floridian is no longer having dessert parties at the marina. :confused3

You could still do the Wishes cruise. You just need to reserve two of the premium pontoon boats (music is piped in). I reserved them for our rehearsal dinner. No one knows yet (not even DF). It is my little surprise to thank everyone for the great time.

Everything is booked?! This is not good news... So much for our hope to have a special large family meal for everyone. Our anniversary is just a few days before your wedding! How far in advance can you book the Wishes Cruise? And how far in advance can you get the MVSCP tickets? Maybe those would be the best options for "special" functions at this point? I guess I started the planning process a bit late, if everything's already booked. :(

Wishes cruises are available 90 days out. You have to call 407-WDW-PLAY as soon as they open to get the spot. The lines open at 7am (eastern time).

Oh yay! Then I'm not out of luck yet. Thanks for the info! :)

I assume you are talking about the Illuminations dessert party. Have you considered doing a Fantasmic Dessert party?

Depending on what budget you have there are loads of options you could do!

Are you an Intimate Bride or a Custom? I thought they usually reserve the space for you dessert party when you confirm the wedding?

I second Laura's suggestion of doing the Fantasmic Dessert party. Its another one of those events that has the only in Disney factor, and can be booked any time. Personally, I would stress a lot waiting for the 90 day mark to try and book a wishes cruise only to not get it and have to come up with another plan b. Good luck!

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I hadn't even thought of a Fantasmic dessert party....that sounds like a lot of fun. Could be a little weird though, my youngest brother (he'll be 8 at the time of the wedding) is absolutely TERRIFIED :scared: of the dragon and Ursala, that could be funny.... :crazy: I feel so stressed out right now, and I have MONTHS to go...

As for everything being booked, we were still deciding what to do for a reception when we booked the wedding last December. And I had been playing phone tag with me EM when she finally called and left a voicemail that everything was booked (and she said every "dessert party available" pavilion, as there are only a few pavilions that can accomodate a group for an event like that. :furious: I know this isn't her fault, but I was so excited about this, I didn't even have a Plan B.

She will be back in the office today, so I will try to pick her brain too for some amazing ideas as well.

Thanks you guys, you all had some great ideas.... :wave2:

Another idea--maybe the Attic at the Boardwalk? (It is above JellyRolls?) It's a cool location and I think you can see the Epcot fireworks from there (we were able to see them great from adh balcony at our wedding) and then afterwards you could (or the more ambitious members of your party) continue things at Jelly rolls?

That's awful luck about the pavillions. I'm also hoping to do a dessert party for my reception. I know you're bummed, but can you tell me what kind of pricing you were looking at? I'm still waiting for my first call back from someone at FTW.

I had only been thinking about an illuminations party till now - I'd prefer Wishes, but I like the idea of being in the park. Let us know what you find out about the Fantasmic Party - I'm curious about where it is and what the options are for it.

Here is the pricing info that was emailed to me about the Illuminations dessert party. I don't know your party size, but this was for 30 people, (no children).

Morocco Terrace for 20ppl (max)
No Seating at this location
$200.00 Venue Rental
$19.50 ++ per person (Food and Beverage Minimum)
$12.50++per person (Illuminations Viewing Fee)
$408.75 for a Motorcoach Charter to bring you and your backstage to Epcot
$50.00++ Small Party Fee

Hope this helps.... :wave2:

I have not heard of any parties at the MK...the only thing that is available for the MK and Wishes is a wishes Cruise.
