I Need Help...???

It seems I have developed an obsessive compulsive disorder. I did not know I had it but everything I do lately seems to develop into some big deal. Well, anyway, I digressed. I do not know where to begin in pin trading. I saw that there is a book Tomart's "5th Edition Disneyana Guide to Pin Trading". Is this worth investing in?

I am so nervous that I will end up with something good only to trade it or miss a trade. However my main concern is that I will end up with cheap non-disney pins. Please help...

I bought the book, and it is fun to look at. I like books in general, rather than sitting at a computer. The information re. worth of pins doesn't seem at all accurate, however! Pinpics is a much better resourse for that.

Pincastle, Advertising is against the Dis guidelines, and your prices are astronomical! There is no way I would ever purchase pins at those prices!!!!!!!!!!!! I've reported bothe the spamming of the board, as well as the spam PM to the mods.

I have never bought nor used the book. I rely on Pinpics. Pins change too fast and furious to worry about what is in print.
I have heard others say Tomart's helped them group their own pins.

My best advice for a new pin trader- Find something you love to collect and go with it- and value is pretty subjective when it comes to pins. What each pin is worth can depend on who wants it...

As for trading for the cheap non-disney ones. You get to know which ones they are pretty quick and soon can easily spot them. Its harder online as the differences arnt as apparent

Also Ebay is a great resource, lets say you decided to collect Jessica Rabbit pins for example. You can do a completed auction search typing in the words "Jessica Rabbit pin*" and then sort by highest price, that will give you a quick idea of which Jessica pins are more valuable.
