Hello everyone, my name is Chris and this is my very first post here. Where to begin.....I have been with my girlfriend Roberta for just over 7 years now and I have recently decided to ask her to marry me. It's taken us a long time to get to this point because her mom passed away right before we met in 2002. Disneyland has been a part of our relationship since the very beginning. She is a HUGE Sleeping Beauty fan. Taking this all into consideration here is my idea...
What I would like to do is to propose to her inside Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland. There is a spot within the castle just as you enter and go up the first flight of stairs that is perfect. The lighting in the center of this spot would illuminate the ring perfectly. That in combination of the music playing in the castle and just the whole environment would be a great setting. So that is my setting. Now comes the part where I need some help. I have seen in the park and heard on various forums that people who were proposing were able to get a Disney character involved in their proposal. I would really love to get Aurora to help me with this. That would blow her away and would just be the icing on the cake for this magical idea. There is a second flight of steps just ahead of the proposal site that I wanted to have her walk down and present the ring. I really want to make this happen but have no idea how to do so. City Hall says that the official policy states that there will be no character involvement in wedding proposals but there has got to be a loop hole somewhere. I mean I've seen it done in the park before! Any help, especially from park employees, would be greatly appreciated here. I would even be willing to pay a fee for this extra special part of my proposal. Please let me know if there is any feedback that anyone could give that would help make this magical idea a reality. Thanks for reading.

At one time, and I don't know if this still holds true, but at WDW there can be character involvement. For a fee. I do not know what the fee or character limitations are (Aurora may not be available).

I DO know that the characters are allowed to only arrive and celebrate AFTER she says yes. There is no way Disney will take the chance of placing any character into an awkward situation (if she says no)

I am sure your GF will say yes, but they simply will not take the chance, I am sure you understand. :)

Hope this helps!

Some of the wedding proposals that I have seen that involved characters seemed like they were sort of impromptu -- the couple waited in line to meet a character and when they got up there to get their pic taken the guy suddenly proposed.

I know that doesn't really help you much but maybe it explains why it seems like there is character involvement when Disney is saying "No"

My advice would be to ask around, maybe a different cast member will be more willing to help. Do any of the Disneyland resorts have concierge level? I have always heard that the concierge level CM at WDW will really help you plan something special for an event like this if you are staying with them.

Best of luck, your idea sounds awesome, I hope you can work everything out!

I would suggest contacting the Disney Weddings department at Disneyland...

Check out their info here:

Perhaps they can help you arrange what you want to do.

There is also a service called Gifts of a Lifetime for Walt Disney World that can help plan some special events. I don't know if there is anything like that for Disneyland, but the folks over at the Disneyland forums might know...consider asking them! Disneyland Forum

not sure on what is allowed, but I just wanted to say hi and congratulations and that I hope it all works out the way you envision it!!:goodvibes:flower3:pixiedust:

Q: I would love to have my wedding in a Disneyland® Resort Theme Park but do not have the budget. How do you suggest we incorporate the Disney magic into our wedding event?

A: We are pleased to offer many magical opportunities to enhance your celebration. A pre or post-wedding event such as a Fantasmic!* Dessert party, Disney's Electrical Parade* Rehearsal Dinner or even a whimsical Mad Hatter Tea Party Brunch are all excellent ways to add a touch of Disney magic to your special day. Your Disney Wedding Planner will be pleased to share details of these options and many more.
