Hey all,
I need some help. I have a friend who is getting married and my roommate and I want to play and sing a song for the couple at the wedding. We are absolutely stumped and could use some suggestions. The songs can be Disney or not Disney. We'll be playing them on acoustic guitar. Thanks for any suggestions.

How about "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" or "Candle on the Water"? Those are two very popular ones we talk about on the wedding board. Most people use the Candle song during the lighting of unity/memorial candles. The song is from "Pete's Dragon".

HTH!

Not a disney song but "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain is a great song.

Or you could sing "Can You Feel Love the Tonight"

I've always enjoyed The Wedding Song (by Paul Stokey) on an acoustic guitar.

Grow Old With Me by John Lennon is great on an acoustic guitar.

When You Say Nothing At All by Paul Overstreet

Let It Be Me....I'm drawing a blank as to who wrote it

You'll Be In My Heart sounds WONDERFUL on an acoustic guitar (you know the one....from Tarzan, by Phil Collins)

I think "longer" by Dan Folgerberg would be beautifull acompanied on the guitar

Oh, that's my parents wedding song. Oh, how cute.

The title might throw you off but what about "Lover lay down" by Dave Matthews.

Of course I had to suggest something by him, hehe.

IOU by Lee Greenwood
Beautiful by I don't know who(it's a recent song...maybe in the last 3-5 years...maybe Jim Brrickman????)
There You'll Be from the movie Pearl Harbor

I will have to vote for these two as well, since I have sung both of them at different weddings.

I've also done Chicago's "You're the Inspiration" and "I Will" by Paul Brandt. The one at my wedding was "My Only Love" by the Statler Brothers, but I didn't dare try to sing it... too emotional :D but I love that song. DW actually walked the aisle to that song.

There's a lovely one called "In a Country Churchyard" by Chris de Burgh (don't know if you've ever heard of him over there?).
His name has come to mind as his daughter has just won the Miss World contest representing Ireland.
Edited to add:
Here's a link where you can read the lyrics and play a segment. The song is from the "End of a Perfect Day" album.
