I need help with invites and such . . .

Hi Guys:

I was wondering for those of you who did your own invitations and programs, what computer software or program did you use? And where can I buy it? I'm computer illiterate, but maybe I could save some money by doing my programs, itineraries and menus. Also, can I just use a regular laser jet printer at home and what about the paper? Does it have to be regular paper or can it be the nice "heavy" paper?

Any help would greatly be appreciated

For the programs you can use your ink jet printer... you can use any program like Word or Microsoft Project.

As for invitations- I'm sorry I can't help you out there!!!!

I did my own invites - wedding and rehearsal - and am working on my own place cards and thank yous. I did them all with Microsoft Word, my small paper cutter, Kinko's large paper cutter, and staples for color copies. Depending on the type of paper you want to use and/or the number of invites you need to make, doing it on your own inkjet or laser printer would work. The paper I used smears easily when I used my inkjet so I made color copies instead. Kinko's has a large laser cutter to cut things in bulk, so I used them to cut all of the pieces for the invites. I made my using 5 x 7 envelopments, paper, ribbon from Michaels, MM page pebbles, two different sized "K" stamps, a tape runner and a xyron machine.

I went totally Martha Stewart and made all my invites and save the dates by hand! It adds a nice personal touch to everything. I ordered rubber stamps online that had all the wording that I wanted, bought some nice paper at the art store, and used a woodcarving tool to carve my own rubber stamp art. I've got a degree in art, but really anyone can do it! It's fun!

PS. I've also been sewing my own dinner napkins for our reception. It helps that only about fifty people are coming to our wedding.
