We have been to DW a few times but have never done the DDP. I have read (briefly) the guidelines for the DDP but I'm still a little confused. First, we are not going during the time of free dining. I have an 11 YO who I am positive will not eat anything off of the adult menus. She is not a big eater, would not eat any appetizers and probably not dessert. She would really be content with just chicken fingers and mac and cheese. Do I have to include her on the DDP or can I just pay OOP for her? I'm sure they wouldn't let me claim her as a child for the DDP but an adult for tickets! ha! ha!

DDP is all or nothing. You may want to look at the menu's at Allears.net to see what looks like good choices for your family. There may be restaurants that would have something she would like. Most of the Buffets will have something and some have Mac and Cheese on their adult menu, it is fancier though than what most kids are use to. The DDP may not be the right choice in your case.

We are in a similar situation. My plan is at the TS places that have a menu (that is, not buffet places) to let him order the kids meal and pay for it out of pocket, saving the adult TS credit for some other meal. I do not know if this will work, but it is my plan.

I was certain that DS12 would be ordering an adult meal for DD9 and she would order kids meal for him...
But as I have shown him the menus for our ADRs, he has found items he thinks he would like (much to our DDs chagrin!). He said he likes steak--who knew? We don't eat it at home much, nor do I allow him such an expense at restaurants!
Give your 11 year old some credit...she may surprise you! (and, she can always order a kids meal if she wants!)
Another tip...buffets will allow her to pick & choose. Sci Fi/50s Prime Time offer diner-type meals that kids usually find more palatable.

I don't know about your daughter, but sometimes I wished I could have ordered off of the kids menu!! :rotfl:

I thought the same thing about my ds10 and dd8 when we were there last year - I figured they'd switch meals, but ds10 found lots to eat and dd wasn't too happy about it. Although, she ordered his appetizers because nothing interested him. He, too, ate lots of steak (3 times - 10 ounces each time!) and just asked for it plain (no sauces and subbed fries for potatoes). He had fried chicken at PrimeTime, burgers at Sci Fi and we did 2 buffets. He had no problem finding something to eat. It was nice to see him eat something other than chicken fingers in a restaurant (although he still had plenty of fries). The only problem is now when we go out to eat, he's looking to order off the adult menu and it is costing us more $.
