Am trying to figure out the best way to solve my problem. I will be staying at Sheraton Vistana Resort (SVR) in July. My party consists of myself, my husband, our daughter (7), our sons (17, & 19), and our nephew (18).

Here is the problem: we will be splitting up and going to different parks on the same day. The teenagers will be going to Universal while we take our daughter to MK. They have absolutely NO INTEREST in joining us for a princess marathon at MK! We will only have one car, our own minivan. We plan on getting to MK early and staying late enough for fireworks. MK is open 9-11 on the day we plan on going. The same day, Universal is open 8am-9pm.

There is a shuttle from SVR, but I am not too excited to try it. What do you experienced Orlando travelers think about the following options?:

1. Drop off the teenagers at Universal then drive to Disney. Let them stay at City Walk until we pick them up.

2. Same as above, but give them cash for a taxi back to the resort.

3. Take the shuttle from SVR and let the teenagers have the car. ( They would be fine since I swear that my 19 yo has a GPS system surgically implanted in his brain and is a good driver) and
a) take the shuttle back or
b) have the kids pick us up (how and where?) I really HATE to be without my car!

I have other questions:
- since our hotel is very close to DTD, is it possible to take DT to DTD and have the boys pick us up there?
- how hard is it to drop off at Universal?
- what times do the shuttles leave and return from SVR? I hate to feel stranded! I did a search for this info, but couldn't find good information.
- how much is a taxi from Universal to SVR? Is this do-able?

Thanks for any input that you can give me!

I would drop them off and have them go to CityWalk after US closes. They very well could get into a line right before park closing and be there for 1+ hours just to ride that last ride.

I'm not sure what happened to my typing above, but my nephew is 18.

I would probably go for option 1, but make sure they have cab money - just in case.

You can estimate cab fares at taxifarefinder.com

Mears runs a shuttle service. It's about $20 pp, r/t, from WDW area resorts to US/IoA. You tell them when you want to go, and return, and they will give you a p/u time. I imagine that it runs to and from the SVR..but I would doublecheck on that.
If that isn't an option, I would give the boys cab money and have them cab back to SVR, rather than hanging out at CityWalk until you get there. I have been at CityWalk late at night....it isn't DTD!!! There are a lot of people hanging out there that may not be those you want your kids around. I wasn't even comfortable walking through late at night, back to my resort!!! I would have the boys plan on getting that cab fairly soon after US/IoA closes for the day.

Wow! That would be perfect if they could take a shuttle back. They will probably be at IOA for the whole day.

I was reading reviews of SVR on TripAdvisor last night and saw a review from April that stated there is a shuttle to/from US/IOA for $17. We may go that route. I may call the resort to check for availability and times.

Thanks!
