I am debating between two weeks: Nov 27-Dec 5 or Dec 4-Dec 12. Which would you pick?

I know that the first weekend would be pretty busy due to it just being after Thanksgiving.

I know that the parade taping is Dec 4/5 so we either wouldn't be able to go to MK the first weekend or the last weekend.

I know that Pop Warner is the the second week.

I would go with the first week. I don't think Pop is until December 9th, but that 1st week of December still hasn't gotten busier than it used to be, I would go with the week right after Thanksgiving for lower crowds and no cheerleaders. Although that Saturday and Sunday the 27th and 28th will probably be crowded, after that you should be good.

My preference is to begin my trip Thanksgiving weekend, although that hasn't been my practice for my past two holiday trips. Saturday will be crowded, but the crowds will begin to thin out on Sunday. However, if you want to get together with people going on the Podcast cruise Dec. 12-16, you would want to choose the second week. My guess is more people will go to WDW pre-cruise than post-cruise.

I would go the second week... only because we are going the 28th to 5th and that will be a few less people to wait in line behind for us. ;)

As long as you are not staying at the same resort at Pop Warner they are not a problem at all in the parks. I will never, however, ever never ever again stay in the same resort. Terrible. And that's mostly the parents. :headache::sad2:

The 28th is actually the start of value season and when they see a big swing of their guests departing from the thanksgiving week. But as a tip... rooms are more expensive on the 27th, and some are booked already in certain categories depending on where you're looking to stay. Just something we ran in to when we looking in to extending our trip from 6 to 8 nights. We opted to push out to the 6th vs. adding on to the front end and coming in on the 26th (well, that and the our family wanted us to stop in for Thanksgiving instead of spending it on the road).

My vote is the first of your two choices. That's when we went in '08, and it was FABULOUS! Value rates, low crowds, decent weather, Christmas decorations already up, what could be better? :goodvibes

Enjoy your trip!

we are going 12/4-12/11- just before the cruise, so hopefully i can say hi to a few folks before they head off. I've done this timeframe before and it isn't bad. Pop had no affect on the parks for us at all (some problems at POR, but we are at BLT this time).

otherwise, either week is great. I hear the week after thanksgiving appears to be better crowd-wise.

I went Thanksgiving and for the week after and it was awesome! Everyone leaves after Thanksgiving and it rocks!!

My vote is for the first week. I personally believe the first week will be far less crowded. The closer you get to Christmas, the more crowded the parks will be. Your concerns are the same that I had...the parade taping & Pop Warner.

I was very, very concerned about Pop Warner...but after talking to many folks on DIS, I feel much better about it. It seems that if you stay in a Value resort (where they are staying) or at POR, you will have a terrible vacation because they actually practice IN the resorts! Seems sort of crazy to me...just my opinion. :sad2:

My own dates were originally Dec 6-15th and now I changed to Nov 29-Dec 8th. I don't really know 100% when we're going, but I think both weeks will be fine. I've done a considerable amount of research on the dates because I'm travelling with a toddler! :cutie: I'm trying to make the trip as stressfree as possible which means trying to travel with low crowds! The prices are also great during this time because its "value season."

Good luck with your planning & feel free to ask any other questions! I have a few tablets full of info that I've done research on for the Christmas season...so feel free to ask away!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the suggestions. Still trying to work through it...............

I think the clincher will be the difference in flight costs, I imagine it might be more expensive to fly right after Thanksgiving, but depends on how much. Sounds like either week will be fun.

Another question: do the Pop Warner kids stay at Pop at all?
