I keep reading about all the different Disney apps for the iphone and I really think I want one, but right now I have t-mobile and apparently there's some controversy about whether t-mobile supports the iphone. I'm really a novice in this area...I don't even use text messages....so if anyone could offer me some advice, I'd appreciate it.

Are there other phones that offer Disney apps?
Does anyone else have t-mobile and use an iphone?
What questions do I even need to ask???

My husband has an iphone and I will be getting one in May.

He LOVES his iphone and it really does do a lot of things. I think this phone has a lot to offer so my vote would be the iphone. Good luck!:goodvibes

Many of the T-Mobile smartphones use android software. (Google) My Droid Eris :lovestruc:lovestruc is by HTC, as are many t-mobile phones. While you can't get Disney apps, you can access Disney World and Universal's mobile sites. If you belong to Touring Plans, you can download their Lines app free.
(E-Ticket )from the DIS is not on Android yet, though.

That's what I was thinking. So if I want the Disney Apps, I'll need an iphone. I do think that lines app would be so fun! I could get a little Disney "fix" anytime I want!

I use a Droid app called Ride Hopper Lite. (Also Available on iphone)
Its actually better than just a Disney app since it covers far more than just Disney. It lists most theme parks around the country which can be listed by state.

It relies on user input for wait times however I have found it pretty accurate since it has a GPS feature that makes sure you are in the park prior to allowing wait time updates. Submitting your wait time update is also a snap, Its very graphical and looks nice as well.

Alerts can be setup for various different things also.

You can buy an unlocked iPhone and then use it on T-Mobile, as far as I know, but it'll cost you. Is your contract up with them anytime soon? If so, and if AT&T has decent coverage in your area and in areas to which you'll spend a good deal of time traveling (it's excellent in and around Orlando, especially in the parks & related areas. I've been in Windermere for the last month and have had no problems.) and if you really want the iPhone, it might be worth looking into making the switch. Those are all considerable ifs, though. Also, the new iPhone is slated to be announced on June 7 as of right now, so if you're thinking of making the switch it might be worth your while to wait, either to snag the new one or possibly reap the benefits of discounted pricing on the older models (nothing's been announced on that as yet.)

The big Disney apps that are currently iPhone only will very likely be available on the Android platform in the near future. It is far too large of a user base (and growing very fast) for them to ignore.

The Nexus One, HTC Droid Incredible, and the HTC EVO 4G are the 3 best android phones in my opinion but the Motorola droid is also a very good phone. The only one of the 3 available on T-Mobile is the Nexus One but it has to be purchased directly from Google.

I don't support closed platforms so I would not use an iPhone for philosophical reasons. Everyone has their own criteria for choosing a platform and openness is a very big factor for me.

DH bought me an iphone two days before my last Disney trip (err thanks I think?):rotfl2:
I was worried I would not be able to learn how to use it in time lol. I did!! it was easy (I text with one finger most of the time) ha ha I love all the great apps and am never without it! :thumbsup2

A note from the ride hopper team:

Thanks for posting the screen shots of Ride Hopper Oglet.

Our app has been on the market since summer 2009 and our user base is increasing faster and faster every day. As Oglet states Ride Hopper has over 250 parks and over 2500 attractions around the world. On any given day you will find plenty of wait time submissions at all Disney and other parks around the world.

There is both a free and paid version. The paid version adds features like unlimited favorites, unlimited alerts, a gauge to let you know of the submission activity, show times and open and close times for the next month.

Try out the free version first and you may like what we have to offer. Many folks have upgraded to the full version and have rated us 4 1/2 stars!

As of 5/8/2010 Ride Hopper is ranked #9 overall in the paid travel section of the android market place showing that the community likes the app.

Thanks,

Ride Hopper Team
