Hey all, I'm planning an October wedding for 2008. My fiance and I are having a really hard time with choosing our colors. We initially wanted to do black and white but feel like maybe thats a little too funeral-ish, plus we are having an afternoon reception. Then we considered Tiffany blue and white. Now we're thinking about brown and white but I feel that might be too blah. Can anyone offer insight, colors, pictures of your wedding/dresses/colors, etc to help out. Any color combos would be great! Thank you so much. I know I can count on you DISers! :)

Black and white could be very classy, especially if you punched it up with a third color. (Also, I've never been to a funeral that had a color scheme :lmao: )

What about Tiffany blue and red? It's a very modern scheme and I would be using it if I hadn't already picked turquoise and orange with a super-secret stealth third color (pink) that is totally not officially one of my wedding colors because it is girly, but I love it. :rotfl:

Here are the color chips I'm using (they may not look so hot on a computer monitor):

I've always liked the Tiffany Blue and Brown combination....especially for a fall wedding.

I'm getting married in very pale pink so my colours are platinum and blush

We did a pretty wedgewood blue and silver. That worked really nice for us. I would definately incoporate some beautiful fall colors into your scheme!

I'm getting married in February and I'm planning on a cinnamon and baby blue wedding with some shimmery silver/white accents...

but I love the idea of tiffany blue and brown!

i agree with lurkyloo, tiffany blue and red is fantastic! versace made this combo famous almost 15 years ago with a line of evening gowns (i remember because i REALLY wanted that gown for my prom :lmao: ) and it hasn't gone away!

the black and white would be fine, if like, lurkyloo said, you added another color, maybe pink or red. i actually think that light pink looks great with black and white!

where are you thinkning of holding your wedding? that might be something that you consider, we are having our reception at the living seas, which is very colorful itself, i've had to really think about what colors are already in there so as not to clash! hth!

I'm getting married in October 2008 and my colours will be fuschia and orange with a little bit of yellow and white.

let me start by saying picking colors was my fav part. so hmm fal. i had an oct weddign and i did brown and oranges. i loved it.
i love broown and white maybe with yellow r grenn o i love green. or black and whie with an accent color maybe something unexpected such as somehting bright.
maybe if you let us know some other deatils it would help.
let us know what you decide

Do black and white!!! It's totally not funeral-ish! It's classic and very elegant. You cant get more elegant than a black dress with a white bouquet!

I wanted to do black and white with red accents, but had to change my mind b/c my reception is in the Living Seas. I still went with black bridesmaid dresses b/c I couldnt give up my black altogether.

I'm having an Oct wedding too and colors were the hardest things for me to pick. I wanted "fall" but not fall leaves, pumpkins, that sort of thing. I finally picked colors when I started looking at flowers. I initially wanted green hydrangias, but after I bought my wedding dress they didn't go at all...

Have you looked at flowers at all? This is how I came about my colors! The girls dresses are a dark chocolate color, and while doing a google search for "fall flowers" I fell in love with bittersweet. So that became my color scheme...dark chocolate with bright oranges and reds.

Don't give up on the black and white theme too! My girlfriend is getting married a week before me and she's doing the black and white wedding...girls are in black with red roses. The banquet tables will be covered in white, with a black sheer overlay, white napkins and a dozen red roses as the centerpiece.

I'm sure whatever you decide will be beautiful!

I'm with the two girls who said Chocolate and Oranges. Thats what I'm doing for my Nov. 1st wedding next year.

I also love the chocolate and tiffany blue combo. I've seen it done great recently.

Thank you guys so much!! Keep the color combo's coming! :)

another vote here for chocolate brown and turquoise/tiffany blue, those are the colors I keep going back to, hehe. With red accents. Good luck deciding! :thumbsup2

I think I've decided but still need those opinions.. I'd like to do the Tiffany Blue and Brown with hints of red. Where would I throw the red in? One more question-- should my BM's be in blue or brown? I looove how groomsmen look in brown suits but I'm not sure how brown dresses for the girls would look. Any ideas?

Tiffany Blue, Brown, and Red sounds beautiful. Maybe you could have the floral arraingments in red. Then, at the reception, you can throw in the hints of red within the table centerpieces and napkins. Just a thought.....

I like the idea of having the bridesmaids in blue....

I've seen it as all brown/blue and then red roses. Nothing else red. They stood out so fantastically.

Thank you all. DF and I have finally decided on Tiffany Blue and White ( I wanted the brown but we decided to settle considering he wanted Tiffany blue and orange-- a gators fan :confused3 ). I think we're going to do all red roses. Or perhaps everyone w/ red roses except for me (I'd carry white). Thanks again for all your help. I don't think I could get my planning done without you girls!
