I have servere allergies to fragrance (even the unscented ones have fragrance, read the label) and formaldehyde among many other things. I have not been able to find a fragrance-free liquid fabric softener. All Free & Clear has dryer sheets but I am allergic to the "fabric" the sheets are made of. Static electricity is driving me crazy. I have tried the 1/2 cup of vinegar in the wash and another 1/2 cup in the rinse, it helps a little but I need major help. Also use the metal coat hangar trick. PLEASE, ANYBODY? HELP!

I will join you in "crazy". We do not use dryer sheets or fabric softner, gives dh a headache.

Have you tried to drip dry your clothes? I know alot of people do that.
What I have been doing lately is drying the clothes some of the way and then hanging them up damp.

Perhaps just use a wet cloth near the end of the cycle?

I don't pay attention anymore to static...I feel like a giant static ball all the time anyway.

if it's a skirt you are wearing I know that hairspray will get rid of the static - other than that I agree with the poster who said to dripdry - laundry from a clothesline doesn't have static ~ good luck

I was going to suggest for static cling from pants or a skirt, rub lotion on your hands, then on your legs...it helps a lot.

I purchased a spray once that you can spray on your clothes. I forget waht it is called--it was in a blue can with orange top and orange writing.

I am allergic to all fragrances in laundry soap and fabric softeners, so I can relate.

There was a fabric softener sheet I used once that wasn't too bad and the sheet was foam like. But alas--my memory fails me.

Good luck!

STATIC GUARD ! I was trying to think of that lastnight! I got mine in Wal-Mart, but have seen it in drug stores too (cvs & walgreens)

Thanks everyone. We have a humidifier (and it works), I am allergic to Static Guard. I am going to try the dryer balls, I'll stop at BB&B on my way home from work. Even things I hang to dry have static. Keep the suggestions coming.

DD has very sensitive skin and I use Downy Free and Sensitive

I still have static cling at times but it does a pretty good job and does not irritate DD's skin.

I was going to suggest this also. It doesn't do as good of job as regular fabric softeners at getting rid of the static, but it does help.

I actually forgot to put some in one of my loads and DH came home complaing his pants were suctioned to his legs all day at work. Drove him crazy! He thought he would be electricuded at work because everything he touched he would get a major shock. He said he even got shocked when he picked up a banana  :rotfl: So I guess it does help some! Good luck!

I use this one too. About 4 years ago I started to become allergic to fabric softeners. This one doesn't bother me at all. It does decent enough job of removing static. But I also agree with drip drying clothes. They always smell so much better when they come in from the fresh air too.

I never knew Downy had a fragrance free - I'll have to try it. So far I do okay with fragrance free dryer sheets, but I'd love to have something to use that would help with the things that I air dry.

I'm having a harder and harder time find fragrance free products. Two major stores in my area, Target and Safeway, have stopped carrying my soap, my deoderant, my laundry detergent, etc.
