Ok....so DH and I have been looking to purchase a boat. We really don't know much about boats - which is not to our advantage when buying one!! :lmao:

We have found what seems to be a cute boat - a 2001 Delta Jet - for $7,500. When I look on-line, I can't find much about this make/model?

Is there anyone out there that knows a lot about boats that could help me? I do know this type of boat is not made anymore...which makes me a little nervous?! :confused3

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks! :sunny:

Ok, I know a little but not enough to totally help you.

How many feet is the boat and what type is it? How many miles is on the boat?

#1 Where are you planning on boating and what are you doing with this boat? Fishing or pleasure? That makes a difference when you go to purchase a boat.

We are on boat #2, a 24ft Crownline Deck Boat.

I am a life long sailboat guy, not power boats, but can offer this...

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

Take a boating safety course.

Before we bought our first boat a couple of years ago, my husband was experiencing alot of what you were. He found a really good message board on a website called thehulltruth or hulltruth.com. I'm not sure what the actual name of the site is. He got all kinds of good info there-I would suggest posting your question there. Enjoy your boat when you get it!
We have an 18' center console Cape Horn.

Don't worry about it not being made any longer. Boats are like RV's when it comes to parts, they all use the same stuff.
Is the boat a inboard motor with a jet pump? if so find out what kind. Like Merc cruiser, OMC, Volvo and so on. If it is a outboard motor with a pump most are safe at that year. Stay away from any FORCE motor at any price.

I buy and sell about 100-150 used boats a year but I don't recall ever owning a Delta Jet. There was a Delta built I think down in Texas that was a very good hull, I have had several of those without any problems.

You can go to NADA.com and find the price for mosts boats but you need to add the trailer and options to the price to get a real total.

Also, I don't know where you live but up here a boat that's been used in the salt water is only worth about 50% of low book. Let me know if you need any help with the boats you find .....

What is the length of the boat? Where do you want to run it? Type of engine? (inboard/outboard and brand) How is it started? (I do not know the actual word) What is the hull made out of?

Also do you want to go fast, water ski, tube or are you looking to just putz around?

Sorry so many questions but they all make a difference.

We have a 18 foot Glastron we use for river running-volvo engine

Our family has owned a boat for over 13 years. My dad is in Italy for buisness now, but he's comijng back tomorrow. I'll try to ask him if he can help.
