My husband just got a new job and he starts in two weeks. The problem is we have a vacation booked for Sept. to the happiest place on earth. His new boss said he COULDN'T have the time off as it is a busy time of year for them. So my problem is I book airfare two months ago. we have two small child and I can't go by myself. I don't want to pay to cancel the air.
If I ask someone to go with me should I pay for their trip since I would be paying for my husband anyway? Or should I ask them to help pay for their tickets? I think that my mom would go with us IF I paid for the trip. I think that I could get her to pay for the airfare but I don't know if that would be wrong to ask her to do that. Please help I don't know what to do!!!!!:guilty::sad2:

That's a tricky situation. If you can afford it, and your Mom is willing to go, I would foot the bill. Maybe she will offer to pay for something and then you could graciously accept it.:confused3

I was thinking maybe my grandma would like to go too. We could make it a little get away for her too. I guess I will talk to them and see what happens.
:confused3

OK, first check with the airline, and make sure the ticket is transferable to another person.

If it is, here's my take on the situation:
-The ticket is alrealdy bought; the money is spent.

- You're going anyway, along with your 2 kids. You'll need help. The room is already booked, and that price won't change. You had already budgeted for park tickets for 2 adults.

- I think I would ask mom or someone else, and pay their way. The end result is that, while it's not the vacation you originally planned, you end up with 2 adults and 2 children. You have the help you need, as well as some adult company on the trip. And you and your kids get some extra time with your mom.

You should pay for them if you're are asking someone to join you just so that they can help you watch your children. Remember, their sole reason for attending WDW with you is to take care of your kids from the moment they wake until they go to sleep, not for a personal vacation of their own. Paying for them to come might sting, but I believe it's the right thing to do.

Thank you everyone !!! I asked her if she would like to go with us and she said yes. I told her everything was paid for by the airlines ticket . she siad she would get her a ticket. Plus I think that my grandma is going to go with us so I have decided to go back down to a value resort and pay for her too. She said that she would also pay for her airlines ticket. I think everything is going to work out. Now I'm praying for free dining to come out.:goodvibes

Spending your WDW vacation with your mom & grandmother will be a wonderful bonding experience for the adults & kids! (Plus, 2 extra pairs of hands will be GREAT!) As for the resort, you could always downgrade to a mod. Whenever I do the math for our trips, they usually aren't much more than the values. We stayed at POR a few years ago & loved the extra trundle & resort amenities. Have an awesome trip!

Disney will not allow 3 adults and 2 kids stay in a value resort room. It's for 4! With Grandma along you will gave to go to a mod with a trundle as a previous poster suggested! I think you will have a magical trip with your family!!!

Her DD is under 1 so she will be able to stay in a Value. She might have to pay $25 more per night for the extra adult though since they only allow 2 adults per room plus kids.

I'm glad to hear it all worked out for you. I would hate to have to cancel a WDW vacation for any reason.

I understand the new job thing, my DH is also looking. I am set on going to WDW 12-12-12, so he better find a new job soon so he gets vacation time!!

Have a great time!
