We have been to DL and DW with our kids and now get to share DL with DH's parents and brother's family!

I wanted to get my nephews their first set of ears for Christmas. I was going to order them from the Disney store.... However was unsure of sizing. So I thought that giving them gist cards would be a good solution. This is surprisingly difficult! I went to the Disney Store when I was visiting my parents (8 hour drive away) and was ready to buy them. I asked at the last minute to confirm they could be used in DL only to be told no.....they are not good in the US! This was surprising as even Starbucks GC's can be used in the US when bought in Canada!

I remembered the last DL trip we took when we booked online there was an area to buy GC's... and now I can't find it. Sheesh!! Lol

So...... 2 questions:
1) Is there a way for Canadians to buy GC's that can be used in the park?
2) If I decide just to order the ear hats online can the kids exchange them for a different size? And can they get them embroidered with their names once there? I think the embroidery should not be a problem as out DS has a set of unique ears he got at DL 5 years ago and he got them embroidered at DW last May.

Thanks a bunch!!

I skimmed the FAQ and I couldn't figure out if you had to live in the US to purchase the Disney Gift Cards on line. You might look around the DisneyStore.com's website for purchasing gift cards and see if you can go that route. Just make sure you're buying the Disney Gift Cards and not the Disney Store's online gift cards that only work at the Disney Store.

I would contact the Disney Store before you order the ear hats to inquire about the return/exchange policy. The policy clearly states that you cannot return theme park merchandise to the Disney Stores, but it doesn't mention about the reverse. My guess is that you can only return Theme Park authentic items to the parks and even that might be dicey if you don't have a receipt.

How old are the kids? My friend's 5-year old daughter just got a pair of the Ariel ears (no size options) and they're a little big. They slide around a bit on her head, but she seemed okay with them.

Another option is making your own. My nephews (sister and her hubby) are also going for the first time in Feb and part of our present for the boys is ears hats. Since half the fun is trying them on and picking your favorite I made up gift certificates for each of them to get at Xmas after the big surprise is revealed. I put the $ in an envelope for my Sister. Simple as that!

We ran into this problem this time around too :sad2:. Turns out Disney changed their policy and no longer ships GCs to Canada. We had hoped to order some gift cards for our girls like we did last time so they have a bit of spending money but we couldn't either. I phoned Disney CS and they confirmed that they no longer ship them to Canada.

One option is to have them shipped to someone in the US, if you know anyone well enough there, and they can then send them to you. The other option, depending on how close you are to the border, is to have them shipped to Ship Happens or another post office across the line.

Frustrating. I totally agree. Regardless, your trip will be amazing!

There's a $10 gift card on disney movie rewards but they can only be topped up at the parks. If you had a ton of points that might be an option or buy the $10 card and give them cash to top it up. There used to be a link somewhere that you could order merchandise from disneyland including gift cards. I saw it on the canada board but previous posters are saying they don't ship gift cards to Canada so I don't know if they are referring to the same thing. Disney world would never ship gift cards to canada in the past.
