I just can't seem to stay on a diet! I've tried Weight Watchers, that just doesn't work for me. Now I just want to eat fruit for breakfast and salad for lunch and skip some carbs at dinner, but mom makes the macaroni and i have to eat it! And I cook ciniman biscuts for my brother, and i need to eat 3, with butter! I would really like to go to high-school next year with a new confidence, and be able to throw it in everyone's face. Not even the "If you lose 20 pounds I'll give you $100" from my mom motivation is working!!! Please give stories of encouragement!!!!:Pinkbounc

Keep your chin up!! It will happen, I tell myself I didn't get this size over night so I'm not going to lose it overnight either. If you just have to have the macaroni try just a little of it. I have found I did better if I didn't forbid myself everything I like.

Do you walk or work out or have a favorite activity you like to do? Don't worry about those days you have three cinibuns we all fall off the wagon at times.

Keep it going!! You can do it!!

Hang in there Megan,

Take it one meal at a time and relish the victory of eating right. Don't worry about the next meal, feel the excitement of making it thru just one.
One little trick I use is to eat in my tight jeans. That constantly reminds me I'm getting full. NEVER eat in stretchy clothes.
Have you talked to Mom about your goals? Would she be willing to make a small Mac and Cheese just for brother? Do you have time to take over the cooking? You could experiment on the family and I'll bet Mom would love it!

Good Luck,
~~g.

Megan,

Don't give up! As stated above, if mac & cheese is what's for dinner, just eat a small portion of that and have more veggies. Ask mom if she can keep some salad fixins (including meat or tuna) on hand so you can make an alternate dinner. Also, exercise is a huge key! Find something you enjoy and stick with it. It's summer so go for every day.

Have you thought about joining a team this fall? That would eb a great way to make sure you continue to exercise when school starts.

Good luck! We're all routing for you!!!

It wasn't too long ago that I was in high school and having the same issues that you are having now. I thought I was huge and constantly wanted to lose weight. Btw, I wasn't even that big back then...just thought I was. But now, I definitely need to lose a lot of weight.
Anyway, that is off the subject. That is totally like me to get sidetracked! I know in high school it was hard for me to eat the way I wanted to. Not b/c of my mom. But b/c of my stepdad and my friends. My stepdad is the one that loves to cook in my family. He is as southern as they come (which I am definitely not) so he makes those really unhealthy homecooked fried foods that his family grew up on. I would tell him that I was trying to lose weight, but he just didn't grasp it. He's extremely skinny so of course he couldn't relate. Now my friends were the same way. They couldn't understand if I didn't feel up to a burger and fries. It just wore me down, so eventually I didn't focus much on dieting. I just made sure I didn't overeat. I also combined a lot of exercise. And believe me, when you are in Jr. high and High School that really does work! ::yes::
In Jr. high I never had a real problem w/weight anyway b/c I was always going skating or walking w/friends. We always did something.
In high school, we were less active, but I started exercising on my own. There was a school track at the high school. I would get up early before school and go walk on it several times a week. When I didn't do that, I would just do a little work-out in my room, such as situps, jumping jacks, etc. And you know what, in high school...even though I felt fat I never gained weight. I now realize if I had stuck to that routine when I went to college and now that I am married I might never have gained it now.
So, now I am going to have to start all over.
You on the other hand, have a perfect excuse to start an exercise program young...that dreaded mac 'n' cheese! :scared1:
Sorry this is so long...just felt I could really relate to you! Good luck! And remember even if you do have obstacles there are always alternatives! :)
