I need DSi help.

Do they all come pre-loaded with some games on them, or only some? I can't tell if some websites just leave that out of the description, or if there really is a difference. My 8-yr. old wants a DSi XL for Christmas, and my 9-yr. old wants a DSi.

Also, can the DS car charger be used on the DSi, or am I going to have to get new car chargers, too?

Anything else I should know? Should I just buy them when I find the correct colors in stock, or is there usually a "sale" on them at Christmas time?

We bypassed the DSi but our son had a DS and now both kids have DSi XLs. They come pre-loaded with some features like the morphing program on the camera part and the brain age stuff but games are sold separately.

The DS car charger is different from the XL (again not sure about the DSi) as is the one for home but it comes with the home charger. It is a different plug on the unit itself.

Not sure about whether there will be a sale although I would tend to think not. I remember the year the Wii came out and you couldn't get one anywhere. The XL has been out since I think the spring, but is still new enough that I don't think they need to mark it down. This will be it's first Christmas season out, I believe.

The only difference I am aware of with the DSi and the XL is screen size. Both my kids love the larger size and enjoy seeing the characters in larger format. I had heard the games were not yet configured for the XL so the pixels looked weird before we got it, but we don't see it as a problem. Going forward I think they will be making games for the XL.

Chargers are different for DS and DSi. I don't know about the DSi XL. I got DD a pink DSi last year at Christmas and it did not have any games pre loaded. I got DS the Mario blue DSi bundle that did have a few games pre loaded. I believe Best Buy usually has some black friday deal on the bundled ones.

I can't speak to the DSI XL, cause we don't have that, though I believe it does come preloaded with some game or other. The DSi does not come with any games on it. Both will play all DS games. The DS charger will NOT work for the DSi.
