I need directions! We are staying at mariott horizons.....

and I need directions to a grocery store. I think I read somewhere that there is a publix. I am used to shopping in super centers like walmart for all my grocery/household/baby needs. TIA

A publix is just down the street, Costco 20 minutes or so away, Wal-Mart 20+ minutes away.

a new super center walmart is going in on 535 just up from 192 think the crossroad on 535 is polynesian blvd.....it was not open in early may but they were hiring...expect it might be open when we go in september

there are super walmarts on john young parkway and 192 in kissimmee which have in our opinion gone downhill since we first started using them....

there is a new one on hwy 27 ( at the end of 192 past orange lake ) which is very nice thus we expect the new one on 535 to be exceptional too

UPDATE: according to safetymon on another post this new super walmart is NOW open....it would only be about a 10 - 15 minute trip to get there from marriott horizons

From Marriott Horizons resort on Westwood Blvd, turn left out of the resort onto Westwood Blvd. Turn right onto Central Florida Parkway, continue past International Drive and there will be a Publix Supermarket in the Williamsburg shopping plaza on the right hand side of the road. There is also a CVS pharmacy as well as a great pizza place (NY style) called Subs Plus in the Williamsburg plaza.

Alternatively, you can turn right out of Marriott onto Westwood, go to the traffic light and turn right onto International Drive. Just before the next traffic light, turn right into Regency Village shopping plaza where you will find a Publix as well as a Walgreen. Citrus Gardens is a decent chinese restaurant located in the same plaza.

If you'd like to go to a Winn Dixie instead, turn left out of the resort and make another left at the traffic light at Central Florida Parkway. Following the signs, turn left onto Palm Parkway and proceed to Lake Ave. Turn right onto Lake and Winn Dixie will be in the plaza on your right.

If you'd really prefer to shop at Wal-Mart there is new one on SR-535. From the resort, turn right onto Westwood Blvd and then right onto International Drive. Staying in the right lane, continue all the way to the end of International Drive and bear right onto SR-536. Merge over to the left lane and at the first traffic light turn left onto SR-535. Wal-Mart will be on the right just a short distance past the Lake Buena Vista outlets which are on the left. Although brand new, like most Wal-Mart stores it already is messy and seems dirty (and that was the day after the store opened to the public).
