I do not have a creative bone in my body, but I have good resources! :goodvibes I'm not even sure if this should be here or in the subforum "arts and crafts"; that's how uncrafty I am.

We leave for Disney on Friday. DS’s teacher LOVES Disney. I thought while we are there, we’d try to pick up a unique gift for her for Christmas. I went ahead and bought a plain canvas bag, one textile pen and some big, fat fabric markers. I thought I’d have characters sign the bag; she doesn’t have kids so I’m hoping she doesn’t have anything like this. So, now I have questions.

1) Do I have the characters use the fat fabric markers or the textile pen that’s like a normal size autograph pen they sell at WDW? What is the difference?

2)Should I design the bag in some way? Before the characters sign or after? How?

3) How do I carry the bag around the parks when not being signed (storage wise)? What do I put in the bag to steady it for signing?

4) Any other ideas for the bag?

TIA to anyone who answers. May a PIN code be coming your way soon.

1) Do I have the characters use the fat fabric markers or the textile pen that’s like a normal size autograph pen they sell at WDW? What is the difference? depends on the character. Take them both and use them.

2)Should I design the bag in some way? Before the characters sign or after? How? I would design it before- if you are going to do anything. Maybe her name

3) How do I carry the bag around the parks when not being signed (storage wise)? What do I put in the bag to steady it for signing? I would put it in a large ziplock bag- and keep the pens in there also- so that it is easy to get out and will stay clean

4) Any other ideas for the bag?

Get idea- I would love it!

I think it is agreat idea. I would suggest using a clipboard inside to steady it for signing or a sheet of heavy cardboard. I also think one of the large ziplock bags would be the easiest way to carry it around. You could iron on a picture of her favorite character if you wanted something as a design.

great idea! I would also put something inside of it, just in case the marker goes through to the other side. I'm sure the teacher will love it!!

I think it's such a good idea you better take two bags -- because I know after doing all that hard work I wouldn't give it away!!!!

That is an awesome idea! I love it! When we were there last, we used sharpies and no complaints. If you do decorate, I'd do it first, so that there is room. You could take an image and print it on an iron on transfer. Although, if you get a lot of signatures, you probably won't need it - but you won't know that until you get home...

Good luck! Hope you post a picture when it is done! :)

If I decorate, and Mickster's answer makes me think maybe I shouldn't, what should I do? I really am NOT a creative person. I'm surprised I had this idea. I must have read it somewhere and it stuck in the back of my mind.

I don't want to use her name to make it more universal, although it is a good idea and I haven't completely ruled it out. I have no clue what her favorite character is. She is very girly, so princesses seem on target, but her classroom has the fab 5, especially Mickey, all around it. BUT, does she put her favorites in a classroom full of little kids?

I don't want to dig around to deeply with her in case I give it away. And I don't want to be too detailed her because I wouldn't be surprised if she is on the DIS.

Then I would suggest just getting it signed and then seeing. If there are tons of blank spots -which if you have just one character meal, go to character connection, or other groups of characters it won't be then you can jsut leave it as is.

You could pick something like this http://www.disneyclips.com/imagesnewb/imageslwrakr01/clipgangmick.gif for one side and this http://www.disneyclips.com/imagesnewb/imageslwrakr01/dec11.gif for the other side. You could put them into Word and print like usual onto an iron on transfer and then iron it on...you are good to go! I made aprons last year for the teachers and took a class picture and printed and ironed on. Super easy!

I can't get your links to work.

Or maybe just make a big black Mickey Head, that's easy! ºOº

I really like that. Simple. Easy. Could be quite cute. I can't screw it up. Or could I? :rotfl:
