That is exactly what I would recommend--and that implies that you REALLY want to eat at CG in the first place. Many folks believe you need to eat there to see the fireworks--as tho it's some sort of package deal, or part of a show.Or that you can even see the fireworks from all restaurant tables. Actually, neither is true. Much better views of the fireworks are had from the observation deck.. and anyone can just ride the elevator to the top of the Contemporary and go to the deck. And unless you have a window table (or very close to a window table) you'll wind up stopping eating, getting up and walking either to the window area (or out to the observation deck)when the fireworks start.
And don't count on getting a table in the lounge very easily--there aren't many and they are quite full too. When we ate at CG in May, our PS was for 8:00. WE had to STAND and wait a full hour until our table was ready at 9:00. There were absolutely no seats at the bar or in the lounge area.
