Hey all!

I have finally got the measurements for the 4 guys at the wedding who will need tuxes. Yay! But I started to think. We were going to go with Carolyn Allen's for the tuxes, as they are doing the steaming. But now I'm wondering if we should do Men's Wearhouse as the BM are wearing Canary from David's Bridal. (MW has Canary vests to match with David's Bridal colors). I'm wondering if the colors will be off if I go through Carolyn Allen's. I've not put any deposits down or anything, so I can still change.

Thoughts? (And reviews of either place are great as well).

Thanks! -Meg :cutie:

I couldn't tell you if the colors would be off or not... I'm sure if you sent them a swatch, they could match it! Maybe not exact, but something close. However, we're using Mens Wearhouse, and so far no problems! I'd say if you want the exact color, I'd go through MW!:thumbsup2

We're using Canary from David's Bridal as well. I will let you know that Men's Wearhouse only offers 1 vest that matches Canary. I saw it in person and wasn't impressed with it. But I'd check with Carolyn Allen's and see if they can send you a swatch.

I would definately contact Carolyn Allen. When we went there we told them we were using Alfred Angelo Claret and they knew exactly what color would match. Are you planning on going there when you are in Disney in May. They are actually right around the block from my father-in-law and they are the nicest people. We went there with my DH, and my father-in-law last May. They gave us a form to be filled out for all our groomsmen that were not down there for the measuring. We had all the other guys measured at home and I just faxed CA the measurements.

We got down to Disney a week before the wedding and the tuxes were already there. We had my DH and his dad try on their tuxes and then the Friday before the Monday wedding CA brought all the tuxes to my dad's room at POFQ. All the tuxes were fine except for one (the sleeves were too long). They brought the jacket back to the shop and dropped it back off to the resort the next day.

It was great because the day after the wedding all the guys just had to leave the tuxes at the guest services desk at POFQ and they were all picked up.

They also came to my room at The Boardwalk the day before the wedding and steamed my dress and veil and one of my bridesmaids dresses.

They were wonderful to work with. Definately ask them about the color and let me know if you are going their while you are in Disney in May. If you are I can probably stop over there and say hi.

Excellent idea on the swatch Angela - I'll call and ask Carolyn Allen's for one. I went on MW website and you can order swatches from them directly. :thumbsup2

You know when I looked at it online on the MW website I wasn't impressed with their Canary either. I was just worried about the colors being off. I'll be calling CA at 10!

Hey Linda!

Yes we're hoping to get over there on 5/19 afternoon to look at tuxes for the guys. I'll give them a call today. If they can match or come close, I would probably rather stay with CA. They've been super nice during this process with steaming. :goodvibes I'll let you know how it goes!

Morning, we should be at my father-in-laws by 5/19. I'll let you know as it gets closer. We stopped over there 2 weeks ago when we were down in Disney to say hello and they were super busy. Not sure if you are planning on making an appointment or not but it would be a good idea.

Hi Meg - just so you know, MWs "swatches" they send, are pictures on a post card - not actual swatches. I was very disappointed by that!

If you have a jims formalwear near you, your best bet is to take a swatch of the dress fabric to the Jims and hold it next to the swatches in the book. Carolyn Allens doesnt have any vests there in the colors (except the ones with mickey on them), they just have the books with small swatches - which is hard to judge if you ask me! :confused3

I couldnt find any vests to match the "jade" alfred angelo, so we ended up going with a completely different color - the purple. But even that is hard to judge based on a 2in by 2 inch square.

MW definitely has the edge on that - you can walk into the store and they have samples of almost every vest in every color so you can see a whole vest!

Just to give you an idea, more than likely, this is what the vest/tie will look like from MW. I believe all the colored vests have the same pattern:

Also, I wouldn't worry about a swatch from MW. They're partnered with DB and their colors are the same. DB canary will be MW canary.

this is the pattern that when I went into the store I was told was the only canary option. What about using your 2nd color? Or getting white vests and canary ties? Although, I see your 2nd color is blue, is it Horizon? because it's the same vest, and I can tell you from holding up my sash, it's not the same color.

I actually never thought of the colors matching now that I think about it. My girls dresses were a chocolate brown, we went with CA's and just got the brown one and it matched really well

I would go with Carolyn Allen's. We did and were extremely pleased with everything they did. It made life so easy to have them take care of it all those last few crazy days. (tux fittings in my DH's room @ the BW, dropping off/picking up the tuxes, dress steaming/pressing, picking up DH's tux and my dress after the MK shoot, and sending my dress to the gown preservation co.)

As far as matching the color, I worried about it at first too. But, there was no way to exactly match my MOH's dresses (Vera Wang) to a vest. Kathleen @ CA was very helpful and we went through all the books until we settled on what would be "closest". They looked great at the wedding!

Honestly, your guests won't notice whether the boys' vests match the girls' dresses or not (they'll be too busy looking at you!! :)). So based on the customer service you'll get with CA-- I strongly recommend them.

Good Luck!! :thumbsup2

MW also does a drop off and pick up at a Disney resort...i think the contact name is Judy or Julie. DH and I went to 2 MW to check out tuxes and finally one manager put us in touch with their "Disney" coordinator. No other store made that option available so we thought we would have to pick up the tuxes and drop them off...not so! They were there upon our check-in on Tues (we married on Sat.) and the guys left them at the bell desk on Sun. morning. We had one slight complication; of course, DH's tux didn't fit! They gave him a long jacket instead of regular, but they rushed a new one right over. Incidentally, one of the guys was in between sizes so they gave him TWO vests so he could see which he liked best!

I liked it because DH picked out what he liked (he was a visual design major so he's great with colors), then he brought me in to do a final decision on patterns for the party. The guys had a platinum satin vest and tie and he got a platinum herringbone print to stand out just a little bit. Dads all wore black on black so that they would match their wives, regardless of what they wore.
