Out of the blue, our 14 year old daughter decides that she has to eat at T-Rex on our upcoming trip.

The few people I've talked with say its great, but when I ask what they liked most about the restaurant, it always comes back to the atmosphere. None can tell me anything other than "the food was fine."

I've seen glowing reviews on the board to nightmare stories.

What was your experience?

We hated it. Food was just ok. It was next to impossible to have a conversation because of the noise. We won't be back.

My experience is in line with what you've read - the food is fine, but you're going for the atmosphere. It is extremely loud (and I'm saying that as someone who isn't particularly sensitive to noise) so be prepared to not speak much to your family, unless you're ready to yell.

ETA: My best friend and I went when we were 16 and 17 for our high school graduation trip. We also "built" stuffed dinosaurs ala Build-a-bear :) it was fun!

Agree with the others that the food was fine, and that the atmosphere is the attraction. The negative part of our experience was that the kitchen was slow. I think the food took about an hour to arrive after ordering. This was a lunch in June, and the restaurant was busy but not packed.

it's perfectly balance between ambience/ food/ prices, in my opinion better food than The Rainforest Cafe, it is loud but during the time the dinosaurs come alive, not the whole time, the Chocolate extinction dessert is awesome!

I think the food was pretty good, but I didn't enjoy it cause it was so loud and strobe lights were flashing. Well, that's my memory of it. I felt like I was in a nightclub without music. :rotfl:

The food is nothing special. Kids like the dinosaurs. Went once, will not go back. Check it off the list.

Food was fine, not great, but fine. I had a burger, which is usually a safe bet at a place like that. If you have eaten at Rainforest Cafe, then it's pretty much the same thing. The adult beverages are pretty good. The kids chicken nuggets were dinosaur-shaped and kind of artificial looking. DS loved them though:confused3 I would consider doing it again if DS really wanted to go back; however, there are so many good places to try at Disney Springs that it would be hard to do it. The burgers at D-Luxe Burger were better though, but the seating there isn't great.

It's my favorite restaurant. BUT, I love dinosaurs and saw Jurassic World in theaters sixteen times, so...

My review isn't much different than anyone else's. Loved the atmosphere, service was good, food wasn't anything to write home about but certainly not terrible.

Service was good, ambience was cool. It was freezing in there!
The check in system for reservations is convoluted and stupid.
Food is pretty much TGIFridays type.
It's a cool experience overall.

It is like a step above applebees with an awesome atmosphere. We had a lot of fun!
If we consider only the food, I actually prefer Applebee's over T-Rex. Like most others I did enjoy the atmosphere of T-Rex. But it's a one and done.

Food was fine, nothing memorable. Check in is awful. Atmosphere is a lot of fun. We loved it more than DD4, though. She wasn't impressed.

We thought the food was good. We had lunch there for the first time in November. If you are French fry junkie like I am - their fries were some of the best. They are seasoned waffle fries and I dipped them in ranch dressing instead of ketchup. I was in heaven. I told DH if we ever eat there again instead of ordering a sandwich, I am just going to order a basket of fries.

Our sandwiches were also really good. DH had a burger and I had a chicken wrap sort of thing.

Great atmosphere. A lot of fun. Sure its loud, but you kinda expect that from TRex. Plus you can obviously hear the noise from the check-in desk. As for the food, its pretty good. I never had a bad meal.

It's fine, my kids love it for the atmosphere (one of them has issues with noise so he has his earplugs ready when the 'storm' starts)
The food is ok, nothing too gross but nothing to write home about.

One of my boys loves the store because he buys a dinosaur (build-a-bear but dinosaurs) but just the 'carcass' because we come back to Canada and get it stuffed at our local Buildabear store so we save space in our case coming home - he basically uses it as a puppet for the duration of the trip and thinks it's great!

It's really loud and the food is mediocre. It's all about the dinosaurs so if that's what she's interested in, it will be great! If you unsure about the food, perhaps have dinner elsewhere and just go there for dessert? Also, I highly suggest getting a Landry's Select Card. It's $25, but that $35 goes toward your bill. You also get a $25 bonus for your birthday month, which can be any month you choose (like the month you travel). The card gets you priority seating over ADR's so you can just show up whenever, show the card at check in and you'll be seated quickly. It works at Rainforest Cafe and Yak and Yeti as well.
