Hi Everyone ::MickeyMo

We are coming down the second week in January again. Two years ago we stayed at the Movie Resort, and last year at CBR. Any suggestions where to stay this year? I liked CBR, but it was so spaced out, and I am "Pooh Sized" so I do PLENTY of walking at the parks, would rather not have to walk so much at the hotel also. AND... what is my best way to go as far as a package? I was thinking going with the four stay for $1500, so at a value resort it would be $1300 for us, or moderate like $1800 for the seven days room and parks. We are actually thinking though of staying from like a Thursday night to a following Saturday. So actually 10 days total. There is myself, my hubby, and our 12 year old son. I have also been reading about a package with meals included?? What is that all about? Would that be our best way to go? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! So to sum it up, we want a 7 day pass, stay for 10 days overnight, and probably a moderate resort. What direction would all of you suggest we go? I want to book ASAP. And I want to make my hubby happy and get a really good deal! Thanks in advance everyone for suggestions and tips and advice! :cool1:

Was there a reason you didn't like Movies?

I really like it, especially for the savings and layout. We have been in the Toy Story building the last 2 times and I will probably request the Dalmation building this time. I love the fact that it isn't very spread out--not a long walk to the buses, pool or food. We found last time that we could take the Music bus back after the parks closed and it was much faster and easier than waiting for the Movies busses. The Dalmation building will be even closer for that (or Mighty Ducks).

I am Pooh sized also and my feet really get tired. I like the fact that the walk from the bus to the rooms--no matter where--isn't that bad. I like being able to run and grab breakfast or dinner and bring it back to the room because it is so close. I haven't been to the moderates, but from how I hear they are laid out I don't think I would like it.

Keep an eye out for the discount that is supposed to be released on Nov. 3rd. Sounds like it will have free upgrade for hopping and the minor parks. If they make it the same package as the PIN we are using then we got 2A,1J and 1C for $1250--this is for 7 nights ASMo and 7 day tickets. We will add the no expiration because we will have at least 2 park days and 4 plus parks left at the end.

We stayed at the Port Orleans - French Quarter in September. It is the smallest of the moderate resorts and only has one bus stop. We stayed in Building 7 (if memory serves me right). Our room faced the river and I think it was probably the longest walk you could have from the bus stop to a room at the resort. Even with that, the walk was only about 5-7 minutes and we had a 3 year old that slowed us down. One nice thing about French Quarter is that when they share a bus with Riverside, they pick up at French Quarter first. We had several times when Riverside folks needed to stand on the bus.

Remember, at any moderate resort you can request "near a bus stop," but its only a request, not guarenteed.

I believe you can add the dining option to the MYW plan for $35 per person, per day (less for kids). We were fortunate to have the free dining plan in September, but I think that at $35 per day it would still be a good value. We averaged about $45-$55 per day on food.

Hope this helps a little!

Donna

Rumor has it that a MYW package discount will be coming out November 3. Why not pick which moderate you want and wait till then to book. We're going for the marathon and staying at the Contemporary and I'm waiting for the discount with baited breath! The MYW dining is really a good deal - you get 1 table service meal, 1 counter service meal and 1 snack per day per person. For the three of you it would run about $110 per night - which you'll find is really reasonable. Have fun planning.

We loved POFQ...It is the smallest moderate resort, and extremely easy to walk from the farthest rooms to the food court and bus stop. Nothing like CBR and then CSR. My family is into mountain hiking, and even we did not like the vastness of CBR! Who needs a twelve minute walk for a drink after trecking around parks all day?

Check out POFQ on the Disney website, you will get a good idea of the themeing, and be able to tell if this interests you. Also, IT may be worth checking the rates at WL for the same time, Often you can get a standard room for little more than a moderate.

I can't give advice about the packages...We have had AP's for years now.
I would suggest doing the math, and figuring out if the package price really does dave you any $. When I got married at Disney in the year 2000, it turned out to be cheaper for our guests to book room only (with a code) and book tickets seperately. Now Disney has so many offerings...Free dining, yada yada yada. Figure out what is most cost effective for your family!

Have fun planning !!! :)

Thanks guys for the responses. We did like Dis. All Star Movies except for the fact we were on third floor and a long walk from parking. ( We rent a car instead of doing the buses) Would it be beneficial for me to become a AAA member? And will the package that is suppose to come out in Nov. most likely include dining, or can you get that for a fee at anytime with the packages? Thanks guys! :earsgirl:

I love it tooo - its fels the most "Disney" ask for a room in fantasia block near pool we got first floor 3 years running! soo near reception. Other resorts just dont have the "Disney" feel!
