I was just told about this board and we are hoping to go to disneyland on May 5th for 5 days. (I know, nothing like waiting to the last minute!)....can anyone give me advice on motels and renting cars, getting around disneyland and anaheim area, etc... I really need it! I am so confused looking at travel sites and looking for a good deal and trying to figure out if they have breakfast at the motels (not just donut). I hope I don't sound too picky but with our budget and for me, never having been to Ca (other than transfering planes at LAX)--I am a bit nervous.
I'd really appreciate any advice!!

since it is so late my best advice is to settle in and read about 8-10 pages of threads.....you will find everything you need :). Also the brown links at the top of the page lead to planning sections. Mary Jo's "info" sticky thread also has lots of info and pictures of the good neighbor motels.

five pages "down" in our DLR section are trip reports from people who have just returned.

Best car rental I have found is with Costco.com in the travel section I rented Alamo through Costco.com 5 drays for $63.00 incl tax & 1 additional driver.

Hope that helps some

Have a great trip :cool1:

By all means check out the links on DIS. There are some other helpful hotel links in this thread:

"HydroGuy's Hotel Rule"
www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199862

If you open up Bret's link within the above link there are links to hotel websites around DLR. Not sure what category you are looking for. If you want Disney hotels there are the three you can check into. The closest off-site hotel is the Best Western Park Place Inn which is clean and quiet(and a 5 minute walk).

HoJo's is nicer than BWPPI but a bit more of a walk. Lots of people around here like the Candy Cane Inn. There are of course others you can consider but if you are feeling overwhelmed any of those three would be a fine choice.

It doesn't seem like you can go wrong when planning your visit with Costco! If you have AAA then you also get some discounts and benefits. I agree that of all of the Disney boards out there this one is the most comprehensive when it comes to travel advice, reviews and park information and tips.

Read, read, read and start booking your adventure!

If you are flying, consider flying into either orange County airport (John Wayne airport) or Long beach, they are both much closer to DL than LAX. Also, if you plan only to do the parks, consider not renting a car, you don't need one if you plan to stay at DL and CA the whole time.
