I need a Web Host...Help Please!

Can someone recommend a good web host, where I can start my family's web site? I would prefer a .com extention so that distant family members can access our web page easily.

Are you looking for a free or paid host? If you want a domain name, you'll have to pay for that, and there are many places to buy them. Prices on domain names can go for almost any price, depending on where you buy them. Hosting can also go for almost any price, depending on exactly what you want and where you get it from.

If you can elaborate a little more on exactly what you're looking for, there are lots of us on here who can help you!

I buy my domains from godaddy.com, and host them through Verve .

I'm sorry I should have posted that I would prefer a paid web hosting site and we will need several domain names as well.

Go through GoDaddy (ask ask for Darren LOL Well except he has the next 3 days off)

I use hostrocket.com or hostdime.com to actually do the hosting...

godaddy is good for doamin name, I use worldzone.net the Pro version as well as http://x3hosting.com/ Both are excellent, great customer support from both. If you need a lot of space and bandwidth, try x3, direct attention to Stu, ask for same program as PS Calc and myself.

I can recommend I1Internet.net as an inexpensive web hosting service. Our church website uses their "lite" hosting service and it only costs us $2.95 a month.

I really do prefer verve for hosting; I've hosted sites with 1 and 1 and found their customer service to be pretty bad most of the time. Christine at Verve is AWESOME, and can and will help you with anything and everything. I've had good luck with ipowerweb, too. I've not really heard anything good about dreamhost, so I would stay away from them.

Since you're looking for something that can host lots of domain names, look for a service that offers parked domains (which will all point to your main index file) or addon domains (which can each point to a separate file or directory). I currently host 4 domains on one hosting package from Verve, 3 of which are addons that point to their own sites and one of which is just parked.
