I am wondering if anyone can tell me crowd wise what week would be the LEAST crowded. We are trying to decide between 9/12-9/19 and the week of 9/26-10/3??

I would jump on the latter week, just for it being food and wine festival & maybe alittle cooler, but here is my process in for thinking the earlier week may be better.

1. The later week is the last week of free dining ( so maybe more crowds)
2. First week of Food & Wine Festival
3. The Expedition Everest Marathon

and everything I can remember reading says the week after labor is the absolute slowest.

The crowds really dont matter as much to my Dh and I, and the weather, but the crowds have to take precedence over the weather for a 4 year old and a 20 month:lmao:.

So, I know you guys have more knowledge than I, so any opinions would be great.

Hi,

The week of September 12 will be less crowded, but the week of the 26th will not be too bad either.

You can definitely expect large crowds around World Showcase the first weekend of F&W.

The crowds are typically less in September from when I went. The beginning of September is usually the end of hurricane high season.

My wife and I went in early September a couple years ago and arrived literally a couple hours after hurricane frances moved west. When we arrived at WDW there were no crowds whatsoever and we were able to flag down a passer by to take our picture in front of Cinderella's castle and NO ONE else was in the picture! Not to mention we ran through all 4 parks in 3 days with no lines!

So I would take others advice, but take hurricane season into consideration. It could play in your favor or really put a damper on the vacation.

Thank you guys so much! I was just trying to decide if I made the right decision. My hubby just couldnt wait to go to the F&W during free dining, but I was really more worried about crowds. So, I had to turn to y'all for help.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

I would also say the earlier week because it is the last week for free dining. I am going that week and made my reservations trying to avoid free dining, but I guess I didn't luck out this year. I would change if I hadn't bought airfare to another week.

I'm going the week of the 12th too...hoping for low crowds, it's my moms birthday week, so that's the big reason why. I'm hoping all the free diners are gone by then!! :)

Just saying...in either case kids are back in school...I would think the Festivals would have the most impact on the crowds.

I have been there both weeks. Granted, the one the end of September was several years ago, but neither week was crowded at all. I think the only line we really waited in for just about anything was for Dumbo!

Isn't it true that the later in Sept is when the lovebugs come out and swarm the area:confused3:) we are going the 13-20th and hopefully no lovebugs we went last year right after labor day and we had no love bugs and decent weather

This is all good to hear. I am going to have to tell my DH that I think the earlier week is the week we shall choose! We have only went to WDW once, and I am trying to acquire my knowledge as fast as possible.

Thanks again!:thumbsup2

If you have never been to the Food and Wine Festival I'd choose the last week. Crowds are not that worse. I've been during each of the four weeks of Sept and while crowds will pick up at Epcot the first week of the F&W festival, they are still not bad. Nothing like the rest of the year. When I was there last Sept I booked the Bounceback for the first full week of Sept this year. After I got back, I thought about it, then called and switched my dates to Sept 26th-Oct 4th, just so I'd be there during the Food & Wine Festival. We were there the end of Sept/first week of Oct in 2007 and crowds were great. The F&W festival is something that everyone needs to experience at least once.
