DD wants to show a movie at her next Respect Life meeting. I asked her "Morality?" or "Just for Fun?" She said that it would be nice if it covered both.

So does anyone have any suggestions for a movie that might appeal to college students that might TOUCH on the subject of the Right to Life, but would be entertaining as well?

A big order to fill, I know. But I figured someone here might have SOME ideas???

Thanks!

:)

I'm Jewish so I'm unsure of what a respect life meeting is

Here are some suggestions I came up with:
Defending your life with Albert Brooks
Meet Joe Black w/Matt Damon
The Family Man w/Nicolas Cage

My husband suggested The world according to Garp w/Robin Williams

Hi Cheryl!

Thanks for the suggestions. I will pass them on to DD.

The Respect Life Committee that DD chairs at her school is one the promotes the Pro-Life agenda - ie: anti-abortion and anti euthenasia.

:)

this might be boring to them but my first thought was His, Mine, and ours. The movie was made in the late sixties, early seventies and stars Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. Cute movie its about a widow and widower getting married and they have a total of eighteen children.

Natalie did much work on this in her high school. I will see if she knows of any, Beth, when I see her. Continued success for you daughter. :)

I was totally off on what respect life was..

There is a movie called Citizen Ruth depending on age of your DD.

Good luck.

Cheryl

Cider House Rules or The Green Mile but they both might be a bit heavy on the subject.

Yours, Mine, and Ours is one of my favorite "old" movies. It is really cute and fits well with her theme. :)

KEJODA! I was thinking the exact same thing! It is a dear sweet movie!

I also think that THE OTHER SISTER with Juliet Lewis and Giovanni Ribisi is an excellent movie. It is a good conversation starter. The movie deals with 2 young adults that are mentally handicapped who are trying to lead "normal" lives.
Benny and Joon is also good. Johnnie Depp and Mary Stuart Masterson..

There are several made for TV movies dealing with mental retardation, mental illness and disabilities that are also very good.

I think these all lead to conversation and debate regarding Euthanasia of the Mentally Handicapped, also the rights of the Handicapped.

I had to jump in and say do not forget Sci-Fi and Fantasy movies...you will find a TON in that dept. My personal favs are The Matrix, Dark City, Minority Report or the all-time classic Logans Run. If you think about it I am sure there are a ton more.
Minority Report would be a good choice I think.

Roes V Wade... it actually was a movie...

These are all EXCELLENT suggestions! Thank you all so much! :) I will send Ann the link to their thread so that so can read all of your thoughts.

(I loved "Yours, Mine, and Ours" too! :) )

Cheryl, Ann is going to be 20 - the committee of that she chairs is at her school - Bucknell University.
