I'm getting two different versions on Cirque. Is it just cerk or is sir-kay? Is there a third one out there?

Belvadere. . .the French spell things so weird.

I believe in French it would be pronounced more like "see irk" with the syllables quickly jammed together... But here in the US "sirk" is the standard....

Hey! You guys have some funny spelling in English too!!! I started learning English when I was 5 and am still perplexed about some words! :rotfl: I practically don’t have an accent but my DH always teases me about how I say some words

Remember, they are Canadian, not French. If you've ever heard them pronounce it (from one of there TV shows for example) it's one sharp syllable.

French is my second language. Its serk do so lay (Cirque (circus) du (of the/from the) soleil (sun)).

alison

That would be correct. :thumbsup2

SERK DOO SO LAY. :) But the "doo" part is kind of swallowed. Not really DUH like "de", but still.

In my family, we pronounce it BOR ING. (but that's just us...most people like it.)
