My desktop computer is starting to get really slow and I figure it's time to get something new. I have a Dell right now. I am debating between getting another desktop, or a laptop.

If I go the laptop route, I was thinking about a Macbook, but I don't really know much about them. I've heard that they are better than your average laptop. Anyone have any info or suggestions?

This might be a really stupid question, but could I still use my Dell printer if I got a laptop? How does that work?

I don't have much to add other than I used to hear many rave about Apple computers. Couldn't figure why, on paper an Apple seemed the same as other computers. Than I bought a MacBook Pro lap top in March. Great computer, now I see why they are so popular.

Yeah...you can still use your printer either wireless or with a printer cable. LOVE Apple. Before getting apple we had a problem with every new computer we had with in the first year. Never any problems with our Macs. We got a iMac (desktop) we loved it so much we got a Macbook pro (laptop) never will buy any computer besides a mac again!!!!:thumbsup2

My DD has a Macbook (laptop) and loves it. She's had it about one year and no problems.

A few months ago, I decided I needed to replace my desktop. It was just so old and not running well. I seriously considered a Macbook laptop. It was going to run me about $1300. I also have two other people in the house, besides myself, who need to use the computer. I was tired of sharing.

So, I decided I needed TWO computers which immediately ruled out the Apple product. I did some research and ended up with an Asus desktop. My monitor and printer were still good so I only had to buy the CPU (I got an i5 processor). I then got a very good deal on a Toshiba laptop with a 16 inch screen. I am very happy with it and my daughter, who loves her Mac, also loves my Toshiba laptop.

So for approximately $1200, I got 2 computers. Maybe next time I'll get a Mac (when I only have to buy one). They are very reliable.

As for your printer, you will just need to download your printer software to whatever new thing you buy. If you no longer have the CD that came with the printer, they are usually very easy to find online to download. Then if it is a wired printer, you just plug in. I will say, my most favorite purchase has been my wireless printer. Love it.
