I need a little help renting my points...

I have *** points to rent at ***. A nice member of the board (notw a dvc owner), is interested in renting them, but she needs ** [more] points for the reservation she wants.

I dont want to borrow any points from next year, so how can i make this work while protecting myself and the potential renter?

I have never rented my points before so pointers are welcome.

There are only a few options,

• borrow the points to make the reservation,
• find another member to transfer the needed point into your account and make the reservaton for her
• make the reservation for her for as many nights as you can, then she will need to find another member to rent from for the rest of the nights she needs, and have you and the other owner link the reservations.
• add a cash night to the reservation (preferably a weekend night) which would allow you to probably bank a few points.

Personally, if you feel comfortable renting to her, I would borrow those few points from next year and complete the reservation.

I agree with Chuck, I would borrow the points to make the reservation, then next year if you are short in points you can accept a Transfer from a DVC member to complete your trip, or you can borrow from your next year again.
I would make sure your renter is serious about the rental.

I've had to do that with my points before and I made sure that I receive 100% of the $ before I made the ressie and in my contract I spelled out no cancellation once the ressie has been made. That's the only way to protect yourself. And if the renter is serious, they will not have a problem with that.

Or like Chuck said, find another renter who could help you out.

Just remember, you both (renter and rentee) have to be comfortable with the arrangement.
