I need a grout cleaner

you can also use muriatic acid on grout, it's very dangerous though so you have to be careful. also don't leave it on too long.

my favorite is the kirkland brand floor cleaner at costco, smells good, not dangerous and cleans the grout so easily! i have about 1200 SF of grout that needs a solid cleaning and sealing, i'm thinking of hiring someone to do it!

I'm not brave enough to try muriatic acid.:lmao:

I've had the best luck using 409 and peroxide.....i Know...sounds crazy...

spray the grout with 409 (or any other degreaser spray) and then pour peroxide over it. Let sit for 10 minutes and then remove.
Brightens the grout like nothing else I've tried. Plus, it's pretty cheap

Peroxide sounds like a good idea! Or an "oxy" type cleaner. I'll have to see what I have!

How's the bleach working out for ya? I just moved into a house with ceramic tile floors in the kitchen and bathroom. I was wondering the same thing today when I scrubbed them.

ok everyone...here's a doozey fer ya!

What the heck to you do to clean colored grout? Stupid woman who built this house put mauve (yes I said mauve!!:scared: ) grout everywhere!!! Can't believe how much of it there is....troubling thing is, it almost looks better if I don't clean it. Then the mauve kinda looks more brown :lmao:

Has anyone ever re-grouted over an existing colored grout before? How is it done?

Home Depot has classes for that. I'de look at online doityourself sites.

try 'ultimate grout cleaner'-they sell it at ace and other hardware stores. spray it on, let it sit a bit and you will be amazed at the results (without much scrubbing). dh is an avid dark coffee drinker and this got my white grout back to white with one application:thumbsup2

we had our counter tops sealed but it did'nt do much-the sealant wears off with each washing (and despite it being sealed i still like to wash my countertops and the grout regularly).

the BEST present i ever gave myself with a tax return was back a few years ago-i called up serv-pro and had them come in and clean my tile floors (concentrating on the grout). took 2 women 6 hours on their hands and knees-but a huge kitchen and tile entry way ended up looking like the day it was installed (6 years earlier). i was amazed at the result-and the price was very reasonable. i paid less than $300 for a much larger area than you are speaking of.
