Normally we use the DDP, but the next trip we're considering eating out only one meal a day and cooking the rest. Fine, but our popup has a small fridge. Looking for a good cooler that can keep food cold longer - and hold enough food for about 8 days. Anyone have a Coleman Xtreme cooler - and how do you like it? Any cooler suggestions appreciated.

We camped out last week in our pop-up at the Fort, and I know about the small fridge. We also had our cooler that runs on electric. It also runs in the car with adaptor for car. It was just great. One trick if you buy one. It cools up quicker if you put in one of those frozen cubes you can buy with gel in it.

Good luck and have fun.

We have the Coleman Xtreme. It works great. Once you have it cold it keeps it cold. I have had stuff freeze in it already.

This is what we have also, we let it run overnight in the house before we go and put frozen water bottles in there for extra chill. Is this type of cooler/fridge what the Coleman Xtreme is? If you're going somewhere with electricity, this is the best way to go.

I just did an outdoor wedding for my son on the beach and used 3 coolers to keep things cold...I have the Coleman xtreme, a rubbermaid and a igloo all are for multiple day uses...Sams has very LARGE coolers you can keep foods cold (in large amounts) for days...they are too big to lift after they are filled however unless you and your mate are VERY strong...best advice for using ANY cooler...freeze everything you can prior to packing it and keep your ice "whole" instead of spreading it all over your foods. (it keeps the entire cooler cold and ice lasts longer )If you prepare meals in advance that your family loves and freeze them they also assist in keeping your cooler colder longer...and keep drinks in a different cooler so that you only open your food container to get your meals out and check for ice levels!! Have a blast!!!

We use these coolers for scouts and the ice really does stay all week. You need to make sure the lid is snapped all the way closed. We use this one for our must stay cold stuff like meats, cheese, eggs, milk, etc. We use our regular coleman rolling cooler for drinks, fruits, vegs, etc. We were amazed that it did what it said.
