But NOT a Chi. I can't afford a $200 hair straightener.

I'm looking for something in the $25-50 range. Any suggestions?

See, the thing about the inexpensive hair straighteners - they don't work like the Chi (or other comparable brands.) They just don't. I have tried quite a few, and nothing worked like the CHi. Not even close.

Have you tried Amazon.com? They usually have them there for far less than $200. My Mom got one for around $80.

My Consumer Reports shop smart guide says the Revlon Perfect Heat Ceramic RVST2001C is the best "bargain buy." It is $30

I agree I went through several cheaper brands of straighteners and spent the amount equal to a brand new chi. So I finally decided to buy a Chi, I got it off the web for $ 95.00, I use it everyday and it works the same as it did the first. I would say get the Chi it's more expensive in the beginning but saves you in the end.

I don't straighten my hair every day. And I know, I know that the CHI is a great straightener. But, I just don't want to spend even $80 right now on one.

I use the Remington Wet2Straight. I think it was around 30 dollars. It works excellent, and I have had it for 2+ years. I agree that Chi's are great, but I understand about the cost. I don't straighten every day either. I was flipping through channels a few weeks ago, and the one I use was actually getting recommended by a health/beauty expert on Oprah. I was shocked that I actually had something she recommended, cause everything else was so expensive!

Heres the link to the one I use: http://www.amazon.com/Remington-Str..._bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1228680407&sr=8-1

I had a Chi, worked fine, until about 1 month after the warrenty went out and the wires inside broke.

Went to Sally's and bought this one http://www.sallybeauty.com/flat-iron/SBS-301653,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair09-06 . Works as good, actually better, than my Chi!!!! It heats from 200 - 450 degrees with a push of a button. LOVE IT!!!

DH did rip my Chi apart and fix it. But it is only my backup if I need it. So far I haven't had to use it. The Ion works great!

I have the wet to strait as well and love it. I love that you adjust the temp. It is also nice not to have to blow dry my hair before I use it. I don't use it that often but I have had it for 2 years and it still works great!

I have the ION; same as wdwmom2 posted. I got it for less than $50 at Sallys and I love it. I use it almost everyday and it really does the job well.

I have a really good Solia that I got on Ebay for about $64 shipped. I left my Bio Ionic at Pop :sad2: and had to break down and buy a new one. Unfortunately after a trip to WDW a $120 iron wasn't in the budget. I LOVE my new iron. It's great!
