I need a fan to sleep, what kind do you take

I sleep with a fan 365 days a year. I want to take one with us on vacation, but don't want some cheesy fan that doesn't work good. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a travel fan that can be packed easily and works well. The sound is what I need, so it needs to put off allot of sound.

I just realized I have been asking allot of questions tonight, maybe its because I just realized this morning we only have 6 months to go!!!! At this rate I will catch up with imgoingtodisney post count

I bought a Sharper Image Mini Folding Fan, great quality for about 5.00 on ebay, two speeds works great!

Anyways - DH has sleep apnea. I fall asleep to his breathing machine.

I wanted a fan for air circulation as well as for the background noise.

I went to Target and I bought a fan that has a strong and very sturdy clamp so that it can be attached to several types of surfaces and not just on a flat surface. It has two speeds.

The fan is made by Holmes and it's about six inches in diameter. It's beige and it has a cage over the flexible plastic blade and best of all, it will oscillate or it can stay stationary.

I paid $11 for the fan, not on sale. My only complaint is that the electrical cord is only about four feet long.

I used it on our last cruise and I attached it to the vertical support of the wooden cabinet where the tv is. It can be adjusted to almost any angle and it has a wing nut clamp to keep it in place, once you find the angle you need.

If you needed more background noise from it, you could place some tape on the cage in strategic locations to modify the air flow and sound.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. It's easy to pack and it fit in our carryon bag.

Sounds just like me. I have to have a fan on 12 months a year, even in the winter. I toss and turn without it . More for the sound then for the air blowing on me though.

I have a travel box fan. Its about the size of a...hmm..the best thing I can come up with is a box of Christmas Cards.
I got it at a store called Big Lots for 5 bucks.

This is the same fan that I bought for our June/July cruise and it was perfect. I took it out of the box to pack in my suitcase and also clipped it onto the cabinet that the TV was housed in. Worked great.

I need noise too. I used a fan for about ten years until it fell apart. Do you realize how hard it is to find a fan in the middle of winter??? I went nuts until I found a noise machine. It makes all kinds of sounds but I prefer the white noise. It uses an adaptor or batteries. I ordered it through ABC Distributing. It is about 6 inches (maybe less) round and easy to pack.

Looks like your on the same cruise as us! We are doing a 7 night land/sea starting 5-1 thru 5-8. Are you doing the land portion first? We are staying in the CBR, before the cruise.

Six Months from today I will be in Disney world

Not sure if this would work on DCL... I am in a hotel room 1-2 nights per week, and I too need some white noise for sleep. I also refuse to check luggage when I fly, so rather than carry some kind of machine, I put the hotel room a/c or heat unit (they are always forced air units) on "run" or "on" so that it never stops blowing. It makes just enough noise for me to sleep - even in the middle of Manhattan! It does not change the a/c temp, the compressor still goes on/off, but the fan stays on.

I do that too when we are in a hotel but the staterooms don't have that option. The air comes from vents in the ceiling and have a thermostat on the wall like at home. It is really quiet in there except for the creeking noises. The fan from the air conditioner does come on but is not constant.

With all the things to worry about I cannot beleive I actually notice things like that

Maybe rather than taking a fan, you should just book a room on Deck 2 Aft. There's another thread where someone had one of these rooms where you can hear the engines and feel a gentle vibration from the screws turning. This may be just the place for you...
