OK, this is my secret punch recipe.
2 Sm boxes of Jello (whatever color you want - I use sugarfree but reg works, too!)
2 Qts hot water
2 cups sugar (I only use about 1 1/2c myself)
1 big can pineapple juice
1 6 oz frozen lemonade concentrate
2 2-ltr bottle ginger ale
Dissolve jello and sugar in hot water. Add pineapple juice and lemonade concentrate. Pour into ziploc bags or other cintainers; freeze. When ready to serve, use a food chopper to chop up the frozen mixture (do this in a separate bowl so you don't crack the punch bowl). Pour gingerale over and stir up to make a slushy mixture. Pour into punchbowl. One batch serves 25-30 people. You can make the frozen part up way ahead of time and keep in the freezer whenever you need it!
Tips: 1) Remove the frozen mixture from the freezer a few hours before you need it, either putting it in the fridge or a cooler. You want it to thaw a little so it's not so hard to chop up but not too soft that it's mushy.
2) If you use ziploc bags, it'll make 2-3 bags full (leave some headroom in the bag for expansion). Chop up one bag at a time and pour just part of the bottle of ginger ale in it. I almost never use the whole bottle of GA becasue we like it extra slushy. Hint for filling those bags: put the bag in a big coffee can or something similar and fold the edge of the bag over to keep it from flopping and spilling!
3) We have a big metal bowl at church that I use for chopping up the frozen mixture. The metal keeps it from thawing out too quickly. Onc eyou mkae up enough for the first bowlful, you cna go ahead and chop up more and stick it in the freezer to wait for the gingerale. Taht way, you can enjoy the party/shower instead of being stuck in the kitchen - ask me how I know!
4) The grape jello makes a good tasting punch, but the color's yucky - looks kinda gray, so I wouldn't suggest using it.
