I need a break! Really disappointed lately....

I think I need a break from this board. I used to come and read lots of great ideas and strategies for the park, interesting ideas for new things to do and other fun stuff. Now all I read is complaints. Maybe the new changes are frustrating.... I don't know because I haven't encountered them but will be traveling in February. My plan is to go and have fun. If FP works then great if it doesn't I'll do something else or wait in line. We have made some ADR and had to use a cc to hold the reservation. Hey if that what keeps people from making multiple reservations then not showing because they changed their minds, then so be it. You still have a window to cancel that isn't that bad. If you want to be carefree don't make plans...if you want to make sure you can eat where you want leave the cc.

See you later.... :(

Yes, I just said on another thread, lately this board is the perfect example of first world problems! :rotfl:

You're going to have a great trip! :thumbsup2

Just like there is nothing wrong with taking a break from Disney, there is nothing wrong from taking a break from this board. Really it is the same thing-not being happy with something and stepping away.

There's nothing wrong with a break but I'll add that there are other forums where the members discuss the pros and cons of all of this without fighting so much. I don't know what it is about the DIS but it always seems to attract the drama. I think that people on BOTH sides take things too personally and get defensive and it just escalates.

Maybe you should focus on some trip reports instead? Reports generally talk about the good and bad, and they are full experiences not just 3 sentences. Bit different from the place where things are fully discussed and brought down to the minutiae...

Yes yes yes! Trip reports are the best!

I've been thinking the same thing! Especially with some of the so-called "crises" that some people come up with. OH NO! I didn't get the time I wanted for BBB or the perfect ADR!

You're going to WDW - some people can't afford to even go, let alone go pretty-much first class.

How about some fresh perspective...?

A bad day at Disney is better than the best day at work!

And if something here on the boards is depressing, then discretion applies -- you can always click to another thread.

It's like cyber-bullying, cyber-anything, really -- just step away from the keyboard, and the problem goes away.

Exactly....

we all need a break from time to time, I joined in 2003 and come back here and there, sometimes years at a time as "life" gets in the way of vacations. The good thing is that you can pick and choose what threads to read as well.:thumbsup2

So you do realize that you just created another negative post...
:wave2:

I have just been ignoring the negative ones. There are still tips to be learned, and information to be shared...hang in there! Here are 5 random/favorite tips/

Hmmm...I love watching Wishes while riding Astro Orbiter. On a less busy night, you can just stay on and ride and ride and ride and ride. (we did).

I also love adding grilled mushrooms (from the hamburger fixin' station) to my grilled chicken sandwhich at Cosmic Rays. Yummm....

I am super excited to try out Wilderness Explorers at Animal Kingdom this time...

I am also more obsessed than DS3 and DS8 when it comes to collecting SOTMK cards (love that they are free!). Same with pin trading...

When visiting or staying at AKL (works at Jambo or Kidani), I like buying a beer from the general store, and sitting outside at night around the fire in the big rocking chairs. Even better when there is a full moon and clear sky : )

YES!! Especially the ones with lots of pictures! They always get me excited to go again! :)

I periodically need a break from every message board I follow; there's not a subject that's immune from someone ranting and raving about whatever is getting their goat and it can being overwhelming.

I can't imagine anything more first world than Disney, though, I don't think you can have any problem below that threshold there. I suppose that even if one of the white rhinos at AK breaks free and gores you while you're in the park you should say "oh well, I was in a theme park, this must be better than a day in the office." :p

Yeah, I even tried to make a non FP+ thread and it got zero replies. I guess complaining about the changes is the thing to do.

How do you know what FP+s you have reserved, and the times, once you arrive, if you don't carry an iproduct?

Part of it is because other threads just get lost among the 100 "FP+ are evil and ruining Disney!" threads. I try my best to just ignore them, but I honestly believe that people who need questions answered are being lost in the spam. Yes, I said spam because having 75% of the first page of threads all about the same topic is silly.

I completely agree with this!

That totally makes sense. I think what makes the FP+ (and similar discussions) tough is that so many people on the boards are passionate about Disney. The challenge is that we all have different experiences and perspective on where we'd like the company to go. I rarely see the discussions get out of hand and find the different opinions to be interesting, but I understand the frustration. It does sometimes get to be a bit much.

I've been reading and posting more lately, but I'll frequently step away for months at a time, so it never becomes overload.

I understand what you're saying, OP. Totally! The negativity is CRAZY...so don't go if the changes bother you that bad. Ugh!! And as a PP said, all the FP+ posts are enough to run you off this particular board.
That being said, the POSITIVE is...I've been reading a lot on the restaurant board and a LOT of trip reports. One trip report can take forever to get through, so it usually gets me my DIS/Disney fix pretty easily.
