they were pure bubblegum, nothing sleazy about them, so I don't understand your confusion. I'd much rather she emulate their "vacation" video and go waterskiing than emulate Britney's wrist slashing.

I agree!! Perhaps disneychrista doesn't know who the Go Gos are? I can't imagine what anyone would find offensive about them...but I guess someone can take offense to anything.

perhaps you're right, she doesn't really know who they are.

they were all about a punky, 60's sound, all about fun and bonding with your girlfriends. I never saw them in the kinds of get-up Madonna would wear back then. in her "Mad about you" video, Carlisle wore a black turtleneck, I think.

Your starting this thread has made me decide to go out tomorrow and get some of their CDs for my DDs to listen to...something we can all dance around and sing and have fun to...they love to hear about the "good ol' days" when mom was young! lol

We saw Hilary's concert in Tampa last Thursday night and my 3 and 4 year old DS and DD have been singing that song too. My kids love Hilary's Metamorphosis album. It's all we listen to in the car. The new album comes out soon.

OR Perhaps you don't know the Behind the Scenes activities of the Go Go's. Take a look at the video on http://www.vh1.com titled the Go-Gos Get High. They are not as Bubble Gum as you may think.

BTW I grew up in the 70's/80's and have Go-Go's and Belinda Carlisle 45's.

We have had my kids listening to Go Go's even prior to Hilary Duff.

Jane Weidlin did I think one solo album (Rush Hour)--we have that.

DH has four of Belinda Carlisle CD's.

No they weren't as cutesy as anyone thinks back in the day. Drugs, alcohol, and well having thier way with male roadies were pretty common.
