On Sept 19th. My Ds12, and I made an early break for IOA. Well, there were not alot of people at all. So, my son says first ride is the Hulk mom. I had been on it in Oct, so I was brave. But a little jitterish inside. But, I didnt show it. Anyhow, less than a 5 minute wait, and we are being seated. I sit in row 3 for top heavy people pull the bars down, and snap in the 2 belts into the locks. Everything is a go, and then... The blast off, and the dive down. I happen to look down, and my belts that used to be attaced to the shoulder bars, are flying in the wind. Talk about scared. I kept thinking. Something electronical, will tell the shoulder bars to release, since they arent attached to the shoulder harness anymore. I went through that ride. Screaming, literally in horror.lol :rotfl: :lmao: Now, since I am on the ground. Just reliving it is so funny. But, I really dont think I will ever go on hulk again. I did however tough up the same day, and ride fire for the first time. No problems with the straps there. Just wanted to share this story. lol

The shoulder bars will NOT release if one of the belts becomes undone, its a completely separate mechanism. The belt is just a backup, really

Yes, I understand that now Chris. Since, I didnt go flying out. Not one, but both came loose. Just sharing a funny story..

 OMG! I would have screamed and cried like a little girl. I'm having palpitations just imagining that moment when you noticed the belts "flying in the wind". :lmao:

the seat belts may be a back up but are probably there for looks mainly (makes you "feel" safer)

The seatbelts are not a backup. They provide an extra sense of security. Once the harness is locked in place, it can only be unlocked in one of three manners:

1)Released by the Control Booth Operator at the Reuqest of a Gamma Tech. Unlocked rows are then rechecked.

2)Released automatically when you reach the unload area.

3)In the case of Technicial Difficulties where it will be a Very Extended Downtime, restraints will be manually released and each row of guests will follow the Gamma Techs to the proper area.

I know JUST what you mean. The same thing happened to me. It is a shock to reach for the seatbelt and find it laying loose. :dance3:

Good to know about the belts, just in case it happens to me, so I won't get my pants wet. :rotfl:

The same thing happened to my wife on Sheikra, she uses the double seatbelted seats (chest dimensions and all). She didnt secure them good enough, so as we dangle for the drop they come flying out and she freaks. The thing I dont understand is that she started pushing up, like she was going to get out. Its all about panicking...which she did, nothing has happened on a coaster in recent memory where someone has fallen out of the harness. These things are very safe. She complained to the folks at the ride, and the only thing they could do was reassure her that she was safe, and the seatbelts were indeed a back up. They offered to let us skip the ride on Sheikra if we wanted to ride again....which she refused.
It is a scary thing, but its no reason to stop riding a coaster. They are safe.

:scared1: I would have been praying too hard to scream or cry. After the ride was over, & Kenneth carried me back to the hotel, I'd be totally freaking out. I'm impressed you were able to compose yourself enough to continue touring.

I would have been scared to death too! But I am too big of a chicken to ride Hulk. I worked my way up to Mummy a couple of weeks ago and was so proud of myself!

I was just sharing what happened. Wow, so it has happened to others. I was not freaked after I got on land again. I am the type to let things come as they do, and keep moving on. I didnt inform the attendents when I got off. I was so happy, and thankful to the Lord, I was on ground again. I did say a prayer while I was riding. lol.Thinking about it now, makes me chuckle. In any event. It is over now, and the hulk is a fun ride. Maybe I will get the nerve to do it again.

Melissa, how cool we share the same name!! The mummy ride is my favorite. I think I rode it maybe 10 times. I wish I could ride it 7 times everyday!! I have to work on the hubby to want to make a trip back in Sept 2007. Hoping he will say yes. He is so adament about cruising to hawaii. In 2007, or Jan 2008. Talk about expensive. I could take 2 disney trips for the price to fly to, and cruise hawaii.

That is cool!!!! There is not to many people out there that have that spelling or pronounciation!

You should have. Guests play an important role in an attraction's safety. If they notice something is out of the ordinary, they should bring it up with an attendant.

Ok Dark, but I didnt. I thought it was my ****s pressed against the straps that made them come up, on the initial boost, and fall. :confused3 . What's done is done now.
