I do NOT use high-efficiency detergent in my front loader.:laundy:

I have no problems.:yay:

I wondered if it made a difference. I'll be buying a new washer in the next year or so, and I was debating a front-loader. That was one of my negatives on my list.

I don't either. The salesperson told me it wasn't necessary.

Sometimes I don't but be careful not to use too much detergent. My mother once put detergent in twice and she ended up with suds coming out of the washer. My favorite detergent is Gain but they don't carry the he version here.

Me neither. I use OxyBalls, and I LOVE them  . They supposedly release the right amount of detergent depending on the amount of water in the machine. You wouldn't think you were so lazy that you couldn't measure detergent and fabric softener, but yes, I am that lazy, and I hae a much easier time doing laundry with the Balls.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I use Method HE 3X concentrated...I love not lugging those big bottles off the shelf anymore.!!!:laundy:

I use All HE small&mighty. Love them little bottles!

I buy the big old Tide with the spout (like a beer keg). I only use a teeny tiny little bit in each load - and it works great.:cool1:

What's the difference between regular detergent and HE detergent? Is the HE suppose to be not so strong?

Just like regular dish detergent is not designed for use in a dishwasher (as my brother and the "incident of 1990" proved), powered laundry detergent creates a lot of suds which front-load HE machines are not designed to handle and can cause expensive damage.

Some people reduce the amount of soap they use, while others go with the low-suds HE detergent.

I do so much laundry that I use Extra and I love it. They never told me to use special detergent when I bought the washer at Sears. I haven't had a problem. princess:

yep!

I use to use the HE detergent... but I switched to reg. just using less of it and have been ok for the past 3 years. I bought my Maytag front loader 7 years ago.

As long as we're confessing..from time to time, when I've run out of laundry detergent and it's only a day or two until grocery day, I've used powdered dish detergent in the washing machine. I don't use as much as normal, though. :laundy:

We had a problem with our Sears front loader last year. We had the service warranty and called the repair guy. He looked at our detergent and stated that some newer machines state to ONLY use HE detergent and if the repair guy sees non-HE detergent, Sears may refuse to honor the warranty. So, at the least, buy some to have in the area if you do have a repair person there.

I have the Calypso top loader HE, but since I love the Tide Simple Pleasures Lavender Vanilla I just use less. The only time I ever had a problem was with the Cheer for dark colors. :confused3
