OK,
Deciding to get "crafty" 6 days before trip is NOT a good idea.:sad2:
So, I see a design in someones photo in another post, seek out this forum, request a beautiful design to make t-shirts..:confused3
Mistake #1 - I DID NOT READ THE TIPS & FAQ'S.
Mistake #2 - I bought Transfermations from Michaels ( because I did not read the tips and faq's)
Mistake #3 - I involved my children in this project, since the trip is no longer a surprise..
Mistake #4 - I finally got the image flipped, printed to the transfer ( after seeking out the tips and faq's for the first time ) BUT, i did let the ink dry for 24 hrs ( 1st thing I did right after reading the tips and faq's)
Mistake #5 - (despite reading the faq's) I :
A. Did not prewash ( impatient + nagging children who now also feel "crafty" )
B. Began ironing on a folded towel ( but, did do it on my stone kitchen counter)
C. Used the "coolest" setting ( although the directions on transfermations said to do this.
D. Let it cool completely.
THE BIG REVEAL ( nothing ) Wouldn't come off.
SO.....
I came beck to the boards to investigate :surfweb:
2nd try:
A. I removed towel and ironed directly on counter to hold the heat
B. I used the highest setting ( no steam )
C. I peeled while still hot
THE BIG REVEAL ( nothing again :headache:)

I finally got p..um, angry and started to peel against my better judgement and most of the transfer seemed to hold, of course 1 piece tears and it's junk anyway, BUT, the paper backing was tearing off in pieces like a pricetag...

So, before I reinvest the cash for 3 more shirts,( to appease the now even more frustrated than I children )( Really,I was only trying to be a good DisMom...) and here is my point, I did have one....Can this project be saved, can I be saved? Should I buy the HP transfers or Avery ? Please someone just tell me what I'm doing wrong...:sad1: TIA.

It depends on if the transfer looks ok on the shirt. I ran out of the paper that goes on the dark transfers to iron them on, so I used wax paper. NOT the same as parchment paper. The paper stuck to the design and I was terrified to tell my DH about it. Luckily, the transfer did stick and looked good. When it cooled completely, I got a wet towel and gently rubbed the wax paper off. That may work for you. If you need to buy more transfers, I would definitely buy Avery transfers though, because the first ones I bought were from Hobby Lobby and they didn't work at all. The ink all just pooled up on top of them. They might have been bad, but I didn't want to wait to see. Just try to make sure they're fresh. I had some old Avery transfers and the ink didn't stick to the transfer very well. It just scratched off if you barely touched it. GOOD LUCK! :thumbsup2:goodvibes Have a blessed day!! :goodvibes:)
