What is the point of the photopass? I can understand if you want that one magical photo of you and your family in front of Cinderella Castle with Tink sprinkling pixie dust on your vacation or have your youngster hold Tink while standing in front of the Castle. But...For everything else? I know I'm young, but I remember the good ol' days where my mom asked the character attendent to take a picture with the whole family plus the mouse. Or when I watch home videos in big, VHS format, you can hear my mother trying to coax me into looking at the camera while I insist at staring at the Beast. But since I started working here....I noticed how much they push the photopass. (This is all prompted by an email saying that I can get the Disney photo CD thing for a mere $100-a 20% saving! Could we make it 40% by adding my discount?)

One of my first days in the park, way back in January, I went to the MK judge's tent to see the Princesses and the character attendent kept PUSHING me to take the photopass even after I clearly stated that I'd rather use my camera. Now, I know some of the photographers will be nice enough to use your camera for the pictures that really matter (i.e. The BIG one with Cinderella and you smiling and what not) and I apprciate these cast members because they don't paint me into a corner of actually using that photopass card. I, for one, have never liked the idea of photopass and after receiving that email, I don't think I ever will use a photo pass card again.

$100 dollars to get pictures that you can take off of your personal camera and print them for $.25 at your local CVS....:sad2:

I like Photopass - even though I also use my own camera. I've found that most of the time the Photopass pictures are better than mine. Especially for nighttime pictures - they already have their camera set for the darkness and can get a much better picture than I can.

I'm the one always taking the pictures. I'd like to be in some. It's nice to have a bunch to chose from where everyone is included. Some of their pictures are better, some aren't.

aside getting access to stock Disney pictures (of the Castle, or other Disney areas), it's quite simply like having your own personal camerman(woman).

Otherwise, how would you get a picture of the entire family?? I know people ask the photopass people to take pictures using their personal camera, but are you really going to do that the whole time, and not buy any pictures??

Here are 2 pictures from the recent trip - nothing fancy, but gettting these simple pictures was as simple as just standing there.. And we haven't edited all of the pictures yet - put borders, or Tink, or whatever, to personlize the pictures.

For $100, it's probably one of the cheapest things you buy at Disney.

P.S. the signature picture is from 2008 photopass, haven't figured out which new 2009 photpass picture will go in the signature.

I don't have to carry the camera, and I get the pics, on cd, so they are harder to loose.

I loved our photopass photos. You can always have them take the pics and if you don't want to buy any of them don't. Or if you only want to order that one special pic. You can have as many of them taken as you want you aren't obligated to buy them. But I loved all the pics plus the special effects with Tinker bell and Simba were so cute. Plus you can put borders on them. I joined a photopass share and my pics didn't even cost that much.

Last September it was just my boyfriend and I, and I was sort of bummed that since we had no one else with us, that we wouldn't be getting many pictures of the two of us, especially the both of us with characters. Then I found a photopass share on the Dis and decided to join. Best idea ever! We paid about 20 bucks for our part and ended up getting over 200 pictures of the two of us and some really amazing shots from the photopass photographer (see my profile picture) that my boyfriend or I wouldn't have really thought to take. We loved it and vowed to participate in a share every time we go!

convenience, extras added onto the pictures you otherwise wouldn't have, not having to carry your camera, any number of things.
