We just returned on Sat from a week vacation in WDW and I am really going thru some Disney planning withdrawal. For almost 9 months, I had been planning our trip. Going on these boards every day and getting some great advice and $ saving tips. I really enjoyed the planning part. Now we are home (and we had a terrific time, by the way) and I am really in a funk and I want to go back so bad. We aren't going to be able to go again for another 2 years. I'm afraid I won't be able to wait that long. :(

I feel the same way, I think I'm going to have to start a Disney Fund just so I see some progress being made for our next trip, I was talking to my DW on the way home and we were hoping to try for fall of 2005. I've always wanted to stay at the Polynesian, so thats what I going to start saving for.
I know by the end of this summer I'll be ready to book the room so I can see the 1yr countdown.

I'm going through withdrawal as well. We bought AP's this year (I told DH it was to save money but it was also because I thought I might be able to talk him into going back this year!) but we're closing on a house today and then we'll be moving. So...maybe in the fall or before Christmas. We were supposed to go to England this summer to visit DH's family but I think we're putting that on hold as well.

But I do have a beautiful home and have no right to be greedy and want a trip to WDW. I keep telling myself that anyway!

:( I'm right there with you. I loved every second of planning our WDW vacation that we took in 2002. Unfortunately we won't be able to return to WDW until 2006, or 2007...ugh! But I still love getting on this site and participating in the chats here, that way I don't feel so left out. I'm such a baby. ;)

...to start planning your next trip!

There was a thread recently that discussed the longest countdown clocks. As I recall some of them were between 900- 1000 days :earseek:

Look on the bright side...you can start your clock now at
730 ;)

LOL, I like that idea. I'll start counting down now. We know that we want to go sometime in May 2006. We enjoyed May. Something to look forward to! :hyper:

What I did to curb the planning withdrawls is help plan trips for others. I had my DD last summer and couldn't take advantage of the 7 for 4 package, so I told 2 other co-workers about the deal. Both of them booked a trip. So while I was on maternity leave I helped them plan their trips.

But I say, it's never to early to start planning your next trip. :D

We have a Disney Jar and I start the "fund" back rolling with any change or cash we have the day we return. We go every two years with the kids and have been lucky enough to get a trip in with just the adults on one occasion. The funds get big over time and we really focus on saving. I start planning to some degree about 18 months out.

I just got back this month too from my first trip ever to WDW. I wanted to just turn around and go right back. We had such a wonderful vacation. We won't be able to go back until 2007. My DS turns 5 the fall of that year, and we try to take each kid to Disneyland when they turn 5. However, we went to WDW this time, fell in love with it, and will try to go back for the next 5th birthday. In the mean time, I think I convinced DH to go to Disneyland next fall (2005) for the 50th anniversary. I can hopefully get another Disney fix before returning to the World. I put my counters up so that I can "pretend" I get to plan for the next trip! (sigh)....pathetic looking counters, I know!

We became DVC members last year, buying into Disney's timeshare when they briefly reopened sales at BWV. Since we have these DVC points every year until 2042, I figure we have another 38 yrs of constant planning for the next trip (50 yrs at the new SSR).

Lots of folks who came in on the "entry level" of 150 points (for roughly $13,000, plus yearly maintenence fees), are able to have a really nice WDW vacation every two years, keeping the planning going; and their lodging is basically paid for during that whole time.

We banked a bunch of points this year, so starting in November, we're getting annual passes and going at least 3 times during the following 12 months (mostly in 2BR units, inviting friends and family). We'll take 2006 off mostly then more APs and a frenzied WDW 2007 :teeth: . Sounds good to me!
