I miss the old Community Board

I realize some of the political posts may have gotten out hand but now the site has become boring. I used to enjoy reading the different views people would post. That is what life is about. Now we hear about someone's dog died, or what book we are reading. The board has become "nice." Bring back some of the fun!

I understand how you feel.

I can now jump on the DIS board and read for a short while and then leave it -- same old, same old.

I don't miss the politics threads at all. I come on here to relax- some of the threads just made me mad reading the titles!! I like it much better without the politicking.

I dont necessarily miss it, but it didnt' bother me. If people didn't want to read it or get caught up in it, they could skip it. If you were out for a good debate, or wanted to get your feelings across politically, I thought it was a great outlet.

Ohwell...everyone has rules to follow...guess this one is ours for here

I don't think it's a terrible thing to spend less time on here. There's RL out there.

But I miss the OLD old CB...back in the early days, with all sorts of people who have since moved on. It's never been the same since then.

A lot of forums do have "debate" areas. I think that's the best place for those kinds of threads. I think there's enough drama here on the Dis if you look for it.

I remember when I was clued to my chair because I was involved in a good debate. I spent alot of time on this site. Now I almost forget it's here. I'm sure alot of people enjoy the topics posted but sometimes you like a little drama. That is what I miss. I don't mean the kind of drama you stir up when you mention using last years resort mug. Can you still use them on this years visit? (lol)

Yep. I totally agree. while things like personal attacks etc should be moderated, there is a point at which one says "this is a public forum centered around adults, there is going to be some debate and argument and that's ok". In a world where we emphasize standing up for ones beliefs and being open and sharing differing opinions the DIS boards has completely eliminated any and all differences in opinion, which, in my opinion is just plain boring... and If people are really offended by a thread, they can just not click on it!

To the OP: If there are no topics that you find interesting, then start a thread. If all you find interesting are politics and religion threads, then there are message boards and websites devoted to those subjects.

I like the changes. I would prefer if the old debate board was back in business so those who wanted to debate would have an outlet and I could totally ignore it. But I'm quite enjoying opening the CB and not having to look at threads that are purposely named to rile people up.

The thing is, though, that I've tried to find another political message board like this one where there were both liberal and conservative points of view, but I've been unsuccessful. I've found liberal ones, and conservative ones, but not the mixture we had here. I'm going to keep looking, but I miss it too. I wish they'd have created a separate place here for the debate.
