I miss my "second home"....

I lived in SoCal. for over 26 years and Disneyland was my "second home". I have so many memories from there! We went numerous times every year and for awhile were AP holders. I lived and breathed Disneyland. We moved to MI about a year and a half ago and that is what I miss the most. Even though we have been to WDW since we moved here it's not the same. Disneyland to me is like home, smaller and more cozy than WDW.

Anyways, it is nice to come here and read all about it and hear others plans and stories. The last time we were there was spring of 2004. I bet there has been alot of changes since then.

Oh well, someday we will go back and until then these boards will have to satisfy my fix!

I know exactly how you feel. We went last year and I'm ready to go back with my grand-kids. When I need a quick fix ,G-kids and I watch Disneyland Sing-A Long on DVD. It's about ten years old but fun.(sad to say I can tell about what time of day they shot each song) Going back in 2008.

I know exactly what you mean.
I grew up in So. Cal and have lived in Oregon for 16 years. When I go south to visit family & friends I always go to DL. My friends up here don't quite get it, but to me it's like revisiting the California of my childhood.

That must be soo hard....
I never lived in Southern California, but grew up in Las Vegas...only about 4 hours away. My family would take trips to DL at least every year since I was little, and although I try and take my family there as often as we can, I know it is not as much as if we still lived closer by in Las Vegas....

We have other trips coming up for 2006, so I doubt we will get to go back until September 2007 I am getting to the point where I will probably stick with just DL in the future...nothing compares to it in my book.
At least maybe the Finding Nemo sub ride will be open by then!

I love and miss Vegas too BTW. We used to go there all the time too. Adults only though.

I love DL because it feels more like home. Not as overwhelming as WDW. Although both are fun.

I feel so out of the loop now though. I didn't realize they were putting in a Nemo submarine ride????!!! It's about dang time they do something with that space. I assume you mean where the old sub ride used to be?

I agree. There was a time a few years ago that I was wondering if the Disney execs had forgotten about DL. I went to DL several years ago after a long spell of not going. This was a bit after CA had opened. I was stunned at the shabby state of DL. The sub area looked abandoned, there was trash piled up behind food carts, and trash in Tomorrowland and the bathrooms were not as clean as normal.
I was horrified and after a talk with some longtime CM's began to see what others had been talking about on boards.
I wrote a very long letter (to which I received a response) detailing what I had seen.
But now fast forward a few years and DL looks great and things seem to be improving. No trash behind the food carts and none on the ground.
I'm hoping new management will move forward with the Nemo exhibit.
It's a shame they let that area sit vacant for so long.
