I miss Michael Eisner

LOL we called it supercheap lamos. It was the epitome of Eisner's vision. A park with a few generic cheap rides that was really a glorified shopping and eating and drinking mall. I think it originally had 3 really good attractions. Soarin, Grizzley River Run, and California Screamin. Of course one of them was not up to Disney theming standards, like the entirety of paradise pier. And it showed in the attendance. Disney parks 1 through 5.... DCA... 14th.
The Maliboomer was a good attraction.

For many of us in California, the assumption was California Adventure was going to be a new land at Disneyland, not a separate park with a separate additional admission. That might have worked. Then they had to spend $1 billion redoing CA to try and address all the guest complaints. It is ironic for many of us who are Disneyholics and were alive during Walt's lifetime that CA basically was the kind of amusement park that he hated, and inspired him to build Disneyland.

For those wanting more info about the Eisner and Wells years, you should watch Waking Sleeping Beauty. It's more focused on the animation studio rather than the parks but its a good look at their partnership and how they helped turn things around and then when the wheels fell off when Wells died.
