Hey everyone, so I am looking for some info from all of you that either live in or are very familiar with the Orlando area. My BF and I are seriously considering moving to Orlando in the next year or so. So I could use some help in finding some good neighborhoods near Disney World. Also, does anyone tell me about the gay/lesbian-friendly areas around Orlando. We are coming down 11/8-11/13, so if anyone can give us some cool places to check out when we are down there, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Are you looking for a home or apartment?

I personally like the 4-corners area, just west of Disney. It's quiet, but at the same time you have easy access to several hiways if you want to head downtown. The 4-corners area (called that because it's the junction of Orange, Osceola, Lake, and Polk counties) is fairly cheap and there are LOTS of cast members there.

Hunters Creek is also a popular area. It can be pricey, but there are lots of gay people there and it's closer to downtown.

Metro West used to be good, but the crime levels have gone through the roof in the past few years :scared1:

I recently moved to Winter Park, FL (about 20 minutes to WDW). Great area and I like it so far. :cool1:

Used to live in the Metro West area. DO NOT go there now! YIKES!

We are relatively happy with the (south of 50) Winter Garden area.

The Four Corners that ConcKahuna is talking about is a nice area, and not far from the hot spots. It does have quite a bit of retirees ( course that can be said about nearly anywhere ) so keep that in mind.

Windermere is nice, but can be pricey. Oh, a drawback to Winter Garden is that it doesn't allow the sale of alcohol on Sundays. Not a huge issue as Ocoee isn't far and there are no restrictions there, but it can be a pain if you suddenly decide you want something that you don't have stocked for dinner, whatever.

What do you plan on doing for employment? How much do you want to spend on housing per month?
