I might be giving it up.

I think she was referring to some tig ol biddies!!

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I was a little worried that I was going to get flamed for this post.

No way! I think everyone here understands your position! I think everybody who loves camping also understands that you could never give it up, so no need to worry! It sounds like you've got a good head on your shoulders and you have a plan in place! You have to do right by your family. FtW will be there when you get back!

Hello, I am renting from TinaH (for 9 days) and really excited about it. Now other family want to go to the campgrounds and wanted to know if anyone else rents TT's. Anyone know about that, other then a rental company. You can't bet the deal from Tina, delivery, set up and goes over everything with you. Plus they have everything you will need for a great stay.

Can't wait.

We just sold our motorhome not too long ago to get out from under the payment. I hated to make the payment and watch it sit in the side yard.

Thanks PolynesianPixie - what a nice thing to do.

We may be around the Fort in July. We are supposed to stay at the Beach and Yacht club, but we always make a trip over to the campground to see what is going on.

We will not be there in December, we are going for Thanksgiving.

Hey, you're young and broke. You're suppose to at be that age when you have rugrats. We've all been there. When the wife and I was raising our two, we use to watch some childless friends as they traveled and had fun all the time. Well ours are now grown and they now have young children. We're having a ball and they're tied to the house, broke with children.
We did the popup thing when the kids were young and we were more agile. Always swore that if I ever got another camper, it would not be a popup. I wanted something I could back in, plug up, open the door and relax. That's what I got with the fifth wheel.

If we hadn't already planned a couple of nights at Lowe's Motor Speedway Fleetwood CG and a couple near KSC we probably would've cancelled our FW ressies for Pop Century after the recent AP discount was released. The weekday price of the AP discount at Pop Century is only $2 more a day than our AP FW price. Luckily our 2002 StreamLite is paid for, but gas will still set us back maybe $600-$700 on our upcoming trip. Is other's insurance that much - wow! OP mentioned $50 a month, ours is $212 a year. I'm almost embarassed to tell friends and family what we are paying to "camp" at FW. After taxes we are paying $652 for 8 nights, with the AP discount. (It saved us $44 over the entire stay). That's $81 a night. BTW we arrive at FW April 29th.

We are paying similar rates. We either get the Florida Resident or AP rate, but it is not much of a savings. We are paying $486 for 5 nights at the beginning of April. We do not have the large gas expense and our insurance is minimal, but you are right, there is not a huge savings in camping anymore. I think someone else said it was more of a life style choice as opposed to a financial decision. I agree!

Have a great trip!!:thumbsup2

I would say the biggest advantage to camping is taking your stuff with you. I don't have to lug luggage around and everything I need is in the camper. Its the closest to being home in a strange town. No worrying about housekeeping bringing clean towels while I'm admiring my fantastic body in the full length mirror. We even tote our fifth wheel when we visit the kids in Ocala. They put hookups for us in the back yard so when ole granddad gets tired, I just go out to my home away from home and chill.

That would be TinaH who rents out her tt. We are using her 5th wheel in August. So...if you still have the camping bug, but don't want the monthly expense of having your own right now, renting from Tina is an option also. At least you will get to be in FW..and not the added expense of the fuel and payments on your tt.
Keep TinaH in mind: http://www.campatthefort.com/index.asp

Wow, Tina's website is awesome! If I had known about it a lot sooner I would have rented that, instead of pulling our TT down from MI. Gas is going to KILL us! Do you know anyone else that rents out at FW? I'd love to keep them in a file for our next trip. Thanks a bunch!:thumbsup2

Send member ABBDREY a pm...they rent out a popup, I believe. She wrote post #46, right at the top of this page.

Hi BigDaddyRog - Thanks for the referral!

I was not able to log on most of yesterday - I actually missed reading everyone's comments. It is rather addicting!!!
