OMG! First post lol, but I had to tell some Disney fans! I'm STILL buzzing!

I was at the park today with a Meet-up group I had just met, and as we were coming off Peter Pan's Flight, I saw a group of smart looking Disney people walk past. I saw they had their Disney badges on, but turned backwards, so they couldn't be read. I didn't know who they were, but I said to the group "Omg! They're Disney executives!" One had a Cars coat on.

Later, the six of us walked over the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-through. Two went inside, two walked over to the exit to wait for them, and one went to the bathroom. So I kinda milled around the entrance, when a crowd of the executives gathered in a circle at the entrance. I was kind of "Wow. Wow!" thinking cool, Disney managers, but then I turned and saw one of them. He looked familiar. Grey hair. Mustache. OMG IT'S TONY BAXTER.

So I look at the group -- these are TOP executives, and right across from me is JOHN LASSETER.

They were in a group circle, and, gosh, I don't mean to be rude, but OMG! I kinda pushed myself in a bit towards the two Disney GENIUSES and said;

"Excuse me but um bah bahh bah.."

I ACTUALLY COULDN'T SPEAK I WAS SO IN SHOCK.

John, noticing my vision flicking between the two, holds his hand towards Tony and says; "This is Tony Baxter."

I said; "I KNOW!! And you're JOHN LASSETER!"

I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT.

I asked them to sign my Imagineering Field Guide to Disneyland (THANK GOD I HAD IT IN MY BAG!) which they did. I shook both their hands. Told John that Cars Land looked way cool, and told Tony that I want to be an Imagineer some day, and he gave me some AMAZING advice, especially saying that I'm from the UK.
I parted with "Someday, I hope I'll work for you guys!"

They went inside the walkthrough, and I rushed to my now gathered group, practically screaming and jumping up and down. I explained and they were like WOW!

So we waited at the exit of course lol! They wanted to meet them too. Eventually, Tony came running out and down towards the wishing well. I was kind of too bashful to bother him again, so I just said; "Thanks Tony!" and he said no problem with a smile. My group were like; "Why didn't you get a picture!!" but I didn't want to bother him again! They convinced me though, and as he came back, next to the wishing well, I asked if I could have a picture, and he said they were coming back that way, I could get a picture with both of them then.

So we waited, I kind of slunked back into the alley because I didn't want to be a bother (my group were right at the door lol!) but when they came out (my group told me this..) the Disney security wanted to move them over the drawbridge, but Tony said "No, wait. I told the UK kid to wait over there, and said we'd have a picture with him." HOW NICE IS THAT. My group heard him and SHOUTED for me to run over.

Overjoyed that they'd take a picture with me, I ran as fast as I could, and got the picture beneath the castle. Right were Walt once stood.

I'm totally buzzing right now. They were the nicest guys, and I'm so appreciative they put up with the star struck Disney fanboy kid from the UK. I'll upload the photo as soon as I can. I'm SOOOOO HAPPY =D

NOW WITH PICTURES! SEE MY POST BELOW!

AmAZING! So, you better increase your post # to 10 quick so you can post the pic! I know I would be too scared to approach John Lasseter in the parks. I would just sit and stare like a big dummy.

Seriously. :faint:

I would have been way too chicken to go over there. I would have admired from afar. And cried. Or follow them and take pictures.

That is SO awesome! Especially that you got them to sign your Imagineering book. Hell-o? The bestest DLR Imagineers signing an Imagineering book. Perfect!! I have that same book on my night stand.

Wow. You are so lucky! :thumbsup2

Wow!! That is awesome! My son who is 16 talks about all John Lasseter has done all the time. Can't wait to see the picture!

I couldn't believe my luck that I had decided to throw the book in with me at the last minute! I had expected to get it signed by Donald, or Goofy ... but JOHN LASSETER and TONY BAXTER! XD

I'll be uploading the picture as soon as someone in my group sends me it! Even *I* haven't seen it yet lol! (I bet my hair looks dodgy =P)

As soon as I realised it was them, I couldn't help myself from jumping forward into their group and stuttering hello! I couldn't speak properly I was so excited lol! They're my living HEROES!

I said to my group that the only thing that could top that would be if Walt himself walked round the corner lol! But that would be raaather scary too lol.

That is completely fantastic!!! I would have been EXACTLY the same and would NOT be able to get a word out. How amazing :)

I also am waiting to see that picture. 8 more posts for you to be able to post a picture ! You better get on your group to send you them soon!

OMG!!! That is just WAY cool!!! I'm so glad you had that fantastic experience...and I can't wait to see the picture too! :cool1:

I worked in the visual effects industry in San Francisco for awhile and went to hear John Lasseter speak at Pixar. That guy is simply amazing, with a never ending imagination. When I first heard Pixar was to be bought by Disney, to be honest, I was pretty upset. I figured Disney (who at the time was really on the way down) would drag Pixar down with them. Fortunately, the result was exactly the opposite. Involving John in the Imagineering and creative side of Disney has done wonders for BOTH companies. I've been very happy with the result.

It must have been very exciting for you to meet John and Tony. (...and you should have gotten pictures. John, at least, is a very approachable and humble guy. I'm sure he would have been more than happy to have a photo or two)

I'm not gonna lie.

It look me half an hour to post a reply because I was so jealous. :faint:

Okay, I don't think I can post images yet, but here's a link to the two pics I got (just remove the spaces ... really hope I'm not breaking the forum rules too much - I'm not spamming!);

Hahaha, that's great. I've never seen John in anything but a Hawaiian shirt. How fun that must have been for you! (and no, you're not spamming)

Congratulations!!! That will be a great memory. And when you apply for Imagineering - email one of them first with that photo attached. They quite possibly will remember you!

That is so cool! What an amazing souvenir!

I saw Tony Baxter in the park when we were there in November but he was carrying a bread bowl and looked like he was in a hurry so I only said "Hello, Mr. Baxter" as we passed each other. I don't think I could have gotten anything else to come out of my mouth anyway because I would have been too nervous. Even just seeing him was pretty cool for me so I cannot even begin to imagine how awesome it would have been to have gotten a picture with him and carry on a complete conversation! Sadly, to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure I would recognize Mr. Lasseter. :sad2:

Good luck on the future imagineer thing!

Wow! What a great story. Thanks for sharing it with us. And good luck on your future in imagineering!

How exciting for you! And the pictures are great...what a wonderful memento :)

Haha, yeah, for me, Tony is also a bit more distinguishable than John. Maybe, it's because I've seen so many guys that have looked like him. Or maybe they've all really been John Lasseter and I didn't know it! :crazy2:

WOW!

Congratulations!

I am a pixar junkie, so I would know Mr. Lasseter anywhere.
But I would probably blurt out something dumb like...
"You so totally Rock!"

Photos are awesome,
you hair looks great. :thumbsup2

I love that they are both holding umbrellas.
The smilies on their faces are genuine,
not at all forced.

Didn't both these guys work their way up from being
hourly employees?
Their advice will be worth it's weight in gold.

I love that your friends were excited and supportive of you having this moment.
No one tried to steal it for themselves.

Magic moment pixiedust:
