I bought the orbitz 5 day tickets for my family. I am so used to my kids being kids that it didn't even occur to me that my oldest will not be a kid any more. She turns 10 the week before we get to DL. Am I out of luck, or will I be allowed to upgrade to an adult pass when I exchange the vouchers?
Can't believe I did that. Did it for character meals too.

I imagine you can upgrade to the adult ticket at the ticket booth when you get there.
However....If I had made that mistake, and my daughter was turning 10 the week before our trip, I would leave it alone.

I understand what you're saying. :) The problem is we stay onsite, and Disney has all our birthdates.

I would be willing to be that you are not the first to make this mistake. :)

I would call Orbitz and see if they can help you. If they will not, yes, you can upgrade, but you lose any discounted reate that you got through Orbitz. Disneyland will charge you as follows:

The price of the new ticket - what you paid = what you will pay.

Hope this helps.

Happy Early Birthday to your daughter,

Thank you! It was only a $15 discount so I wouldn't mind. Still not sure about the character meals, but we'll figure it out.

am i the only one that still thinks 10 is a kid and Disney needs to get a teen price or something because i think this 9 and younger is Kid is insane. My kids gonna be 12 when we go and to me he is still a kid and Disney is the only place that has such a low age for kids.

If Orbitz can't help, I would call Guest Services before your trip. They'll be able to guide you about upgrading.

Try and call Orbitz. You should be able to change it with them.

Actually, a lot of amusement parks charge child price till they are 48" tall. A quick look at Magic Mountain, Six Flags Great America, Discovery Kingdom all have a kids price for under 48" then they have to pay adult fare. Knotts Berry Farm is ages 3-11. So Ten years old for Disneyland at least in California seems to be on par with other amusement parks.

My DD will be 12 in May and she is 5'3" - that is a full on adult when it comes to rides.

I know it sucks paying more but honestly for an amusement park she is going to ride anything an adult would ride, in fact she might ride more stuff than an adult would ride!

We have APs though, there is no kid price for those!

Why? When we take my 10yo niece, she rides everything in the park. She rides more rides than I ride. Should I tell Disney I shouldn't have to pay full price because I don't ride most of the coasters? (I don't ride Star Tours, Indy, Matterhorn, Space Mountain, Screamin', or Goofy's Sky Skool.) So, since my niece can do everything, why shouldn't she pay the full price?

I have no problem with the current ticket ages brackets.
I like there is an option for hopper or not.
I'm glad there is one price for complete use of parks.

I would NOT want to go back to the ticket books we used as kids. Once the tickets were gone, you were done riding.

To OP I'm sure the ticket booth will be able to make an adjustment to the correct ticket for your daughter.

Enjoy your trip.

I think 10 is an arbitrary age, but I guess so are 16, 18, and 21, and they are all milestones. As a parent of 3 I'd prefer a few more years before having to buy adult tickets, though. :)

I had 4, and they were stepping stones... (today, 28/27/25/24.) I can relate. But it was my choice if I took them.

naw. My son has enjoyed Disneyland almost more than we have since he was 3. And that's when we bought him an AP. I can't remember if there was a kid's price on an AP then, but I don't think so. (and now WDW is doing the same AP pricing)

Now he's 9 and nearly as tall as me, and way braver than I am at themeparks...

I think they need to charge him more and me less. :)

I'm glad DL goes by age and not hight. Otherwise I would be paying for an adult ticket for my 6yr old.
